Another forum member was kind enough to check my VIN for me and confirm that it was not a part of this recall. With a build date of the 25th, it looks like I did indeed beat it by a day!

EDIT: removed name
Wow, that's incredible! Congrats!

I’m just miles away from delivery. My VIN comes up clean on the Ford recal checker but like everything Ford, that system can’t be up to date yet.
What do you think will be my dealer move (#1. I’m sure I will need to educate them on everything)? 1. Will they say it’s sad and encourage me to walk away like they are doing me a favor?
2. Require me to buy the car within 10 days and then have it sit in their lot for up to 14 weeks during the 3rd Quarter
3. Tell me I can buy the car sometime later (After 10 days from delivery) with a handshake that it’s mine once the recall timeline is sorted out (..of course I don’t trust this)
4. ?

I’m up shits creek. I will try and find another car quickly but I went all-in with the MME. Financing is arranged and my current car is sold. I tried to find a different car five weeks ago and struck out. I fear having to buy a car and pay for it while getting put into a recall fix line. Of course I will want fix priority… haha,do you think I’m going to get that?
They will likely go with option 2 and sell you the car but not deliver it. The good news is, at least from what I was told and experience, the cars that are sitting sold on dealer lots are highest priority for Ford to fix. As long as your dealer is willing to do the work it should get parts faster. I had the same situation where I bought the car but dealer couldn’t deliver it due to glass recall, my car was within the first few in the country to have the recall work completed! Good luck!

Question is how long will it take these dealerships to properly learn how to remove the battery and replace the parts.

For most dealerships it will be the first time dropping a battery out of an EV.

Ok. So I know this is total guessing here. But assuming my just bought car cant be delivered and sits on their lot until parts are coming, what is the likely time frame? End of July? End of August? Or are we looking at like September or longer?

Jowly welcome to the Forum, almost one month with us! Ford went back to reporting sales monthly under current CEO Farley. Production and delivery results are updated monthly.
All irrelevant. 200,000 is calculated by the government and is calendar quarters.

No one can buy a car from a dealer now. Period.

With the recall notice just 24 hours old, there is no way to guestimate any time frame. When the powers at hand (Ford) knows, we will know.
Patience is a virtue nowadays, I waited a year for my Mach-E and I do feel for those who have waited longer and are still waiting, but the wait is truly worth it

This is my dilemma. I would assume September and your dealer is not going to be able to tell you much. This forum will eventually get at that info. I’m worried about the complexity of the fix. My dealer just does not feel like it has a sophisticated shop…. But I have no real evidence of that.

There will be very detailed instructions sent out about how to perform this procedure. Not that there aren't already in the workshop manual but there will be more created

Why is everyone freaking the heck out….
I think it is because people are worried their car will just stop working before the recall is performed (like mine did). For some people this is their only car and these days with Ford dealers being so booked up it can be hard to get a rental/loaner too that you don't have to pay for out of pocket (ask me how I know!!!).

OK, not to seem dumb here, but HVBJB?

I assume HVB is High Voltage Battery, but what is JB?

So now, not only can't I charge my car, because the charge port seems to be overheating, but now I have to worry about it going completely dead on me? Or worse, my wife.....

If that happens, I will never be able to live down this purchase.

And of course, the repair involves dropping out the battery pack - What could possible go wrong there?

Please Ford, get these problems corrected quickly!

Jim
JB is Junction Box. My understanding is it links the 12v to the HVB and charges both along with detecting charge current and things like that. Usually a contactor means it opens and closes to allow current / disallow current to different parts of the two batteries which when it fails means that current can’t flow properly shutting the car down. Waiting for one of our engineers here to tell me I’m dumb lol.

As for precaution - I’d say some heat in the charge port is normal, and as long as you’re just plugging in at home you should be fine. Often, charge port heat is more a charger issue than the vehicle and cheap chargers tend to get hot. I would avoid fast charging if possible.

Imagine how long it is going to take for the dealers to get even a small percentage of these done once the fix is out. As it is, they are overbooked and take a whole day just to do a couple of software updates. What a mess... I wish we knew what percentage of all the ME's may be affected.

It’s simply a place where the HVB is connected/disconnected via contactors. There’s 4. 2 for DCFC +\- and 2 for the main power to the car +\-. The 12v is just signal to close/open the contactors. When this fails it *usually* welds the positive contactor going to the rest of the car closed meaning the car can’t fully isolate the battery pack. It’s safe as long as the other side doesn’t fail too which my guess is why they won’t let you drive the car if it’s stuck closed. Could cause a bigger safety issue.
