In my case it was neither. The morning of, the car was charged on 6 kWh Level 2 charger from around 25% to 65%. Multiple trips later in the day, driven with an average foot, drivetrain warnings ¼ of a mile into last drive an hour after vehicle sat in garage.

Just curious if anyone who has had this issue can confirm that they have a lead foot and/or have DCFC prior to receiving the error message.

Glad to hear there were no injuries

I had a build date of week of 5/23 and was notified this morning by Ford that my vehicle has shipped with an expected delivery of 8/13 - 8/19. Am I to assume that this will be delivered with the recall issue already resolved?
Yes, oh absolutely. No doubt about it. Guaranteed.

Yes, if you do repeated 0-60 at WOT, you may see this condition. Like, for instance, a dealer demo unit level of 0-60 events.
I’ve been following the vehicles that experienced the HVBJB issue. Some only charge L2 and drive conservatively. I don’t fully accept the fast charge/WOT root cause. Yes it will accelerate the issue but there’s more going on. Give it time.

I think the elephant in the room is the constant current highway use above 70mph.

So for those who are expecting to take delivery starting like yesterday....who have now been told they can't take delivery until this software fix is performed on the two modules...as in cars already at the dealerships or 'in-transit'....

I wonder if anybody @Ford Motor Company have created a "tiger team" to identify those VINs and the customers affected with the idea of reaching out and posting the two updates to those specific modules for those VINs on FDRS, specifically so that deliveries can go ahead as planned.

Or are they not that flexible?

?

Hmmmm. I wonder.

Yep, some of us have been lucky enough to be part of every club this car release has created ;)

Ok, so my 12 v never failed, but otherwise I'm close to batting 1000.

Huh. The first deliveries were held in Kansas City for a month or more while Ford went through them one by one. Snd that was after they had been waiting for 14+ months. Stuff happens. And atm, we don’t actually know which cars are actually affected. All of them? Some of them? Certain trim lines? The angst is palatable.

It’s been a journey. When we signed up for the first year model club and brand new technology club, we knew it was going to be “interesting.” Probably a good thing we didn’t know just how interesting.

I drove our currently in the shop for failure MME last summer on a 800 mi roundtrip through close to 100 degree weather with 2 DCFC stops each way without issue. Did another similar trip back in April also without issue.

From what I've read you will likely be just fine. But it's best not to drive it too hard, especially shortly before your arrival to the DCFC, and potentially shortly thereafter.

Good luck and have a great trip!

As a fellow engineer I think you would agree this is a design issue that can rear it’s ugly head under various conditions. I would love to see a formal root cause analysis from Ford. Wishful thinking on my part.

True, I was hoping I'd be in the post 5000 vehicles off the line club, but that didn't work out, nor apparently would it have made a difference. Had I known that delivery wouldn't have happened before the end of 2020 anyway I may have delayed things a bit, at least have skipped the KC delay.

Funny how you can love a car so much that you can still be chill with all the service visits, but that is definitely a YMMV kinda thing.

I really care about this recall, but by god this must be the most entertaining yet informative thread to read .

I have learned so much about EV than I ever knew I would. ?.

it is entertaining!

snark time!

I'll say though I've learned a lot about how little many posters understand about engineering, electricity, manufacturing, business, or software. And yet that doesn't deter them making so many far reaching definitive statements... :) it's internet at its best!

end of snark time!
