Seeing how they partner with Microsoft for Sync, just remember it could always be worse...

I apologize for the ignorant question, but how do I know what Power-UP version I'm on.

This is the part I don't understand. Everyone's throwing around version numbers, but I don't know where to look??

I was in the same boat for the longest time. There is no version number until you get your first update. After you get your first update, the version will show in the Software Updates page.

Then, it will disappear and just say you're up to date.

You can't see what version you're on. You can only see what your latest update was, until you can't.

This includes BlueCruise map updates and allows them to be updated automatically on the fly.

For real? Someone was talking about them being able to eventually update BC maps in real time, I forget who, maybe @MachLee but that'd be awesome. I doubt this would be that, I assume this is just so they don't have to scramble to push the GWM updates when they realize the current maps is about to expire on cars.

Yes, I think that's exactly why they're switching to a different way of managing map updates. 3.5.2 is the new way. It might be a few years before we get real-time map updates, but once-a-month? updates without requiring a full OTA push each time might be more of the short-term goal. Map updates are something that can be handled in the background since it will be a routine thing as the tech improves.

The subscription costs for BlueCruise are mostly to pay for the periodic map updates. So far we haven't been getting a lot of map updates so I'm glad we aren't paying for them yet.

Mobileye's approach is much different than Tesla's. Tesla wants to do guidance on the car real-time with AI. Mobileye wants the data to go to the cloud, have servers crunch it, and only send the car the bare minimum map data it needs to provide good lane guidance. It's a simpler approach than Tesla which makes it more deployable in the short term.

Right now I don't think the car is sending any map data to the cloud, it's just relying on map data provided by a 3rd party (HERE). I think the hardware is cable of doing crowdsourced map updates, but Ford doesn't have the tech ready or has decided not to use it currently.

My 2022 EA GT received 3.5.2 today. No obvious way to tell what's changed.

There was an older update that already allowed you to remove the blue alexa icon. You have to initialize it before you can disable it, though. Completely counter-intuitive.

But I also got an email about this power up so I'll be installing it when I see it. The email also said this:

"This update includes a new process the Ford Team is implementing to ensure your BlueCruise Maps stay updated."
Nope, that's changed now. You don't have to sign up to dismiss the invite. There was a change via an OTA that fixed that on all the '22 Lightnings and I'm sure they'll do the same thing for the MME.

When you select the icon now at the top of the screen you should have the option to not sign up at all and just dismiss. If they do it the way it is on the Lightning.

Edit: My Lightning did have the Alexa icon when delivered. But I did not click on it because the process was at that time that you had to sign up to make the icon go away.

It was a later update that added the ability to dismiss the option altogether and remove the icon at the top of the screen.

The way you knew you had the update was by the size of the Alexa icon in relation to your profile icon. If it was nearly the same size you hadn't been updated. If the Alexa icon was now smaller you had been updated and could dismiss the Alexa option entirely.
