Realizing that a pretty significant part of the install is labor I only wanted to pay to have the job done once. I opted for the wiring that can handle 60 amps (which allows a 48 amp continuous load). I spent a little more ... but this should avoid me needing to have it upgraded in the future.

The folks before us had a hot tub, which made for easy access to a 50A circuit. Tucked on the back corner of the house underneath our deck works out well.

Well that’s very convenient.

And boy do I wish I got a silver MME.

Main panels the neutral and the ground are on the same bus. In sub panels the grounds are on the bus connected to the box and the neutrals are separated on a floating bus.

I opted for a 50 amp plug for my CPHF. I’m reaching the limit of what my 100 amp sub panel can likely carry. I want to avoid tripping and want ease of disconnecting if I move or need to replace the unit. My MME will be a second vehicle so I anticipate needing extra juice in a hurry rarely if ever.

Are there Torque specs for the lugs for the CPHF or the breaker screws/lugs?

breakers have torque specs on them. Did not see on CPHF, would assume a good hand tightening is good enough, shake it after and tighten more.
