Ok. I’ll try that. But as I mentioned above how do I know the rate at which it is currently charging. May not need to do anything?

As other's have said it used to be an option you could change in the app. You can't anymore. It's only available on setup. Go to the home charger - settings and remove from account. Then re-add it.

If it was originally set to 30 amps (for example) and it's currently on a 60 amp circuit (for example) it will only pull 30. You have to configure it correctly. It doesn't know automatically what you have. The whole point of the proper configuration is not to pull more than you tell it to pull so it doesn't burn your house down or trigger the breaker ever time it comes on.

Ok. Thanks. Do you think I should set it at 48 and leave it?

It can be whatever you want as long as the breaker and wiring is capable of handling a load of 125% of whatever it's set at.

So 48 amps would be a 60 amp breaker. But I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that in the setup it asks you for your breaker size and then it does the proper calculation for you. They dummy proofed it.

Does a hardwired(60 amp breaker) ChargePoint HomeFlex EVSE just automatically default to charge at the highest amperage (48) for the Mach E?
No. Default is 16 amp.

I have activated it so I know it is more than 16 which is the default if it’s not been activated. I had it installed 7 months ago and don’t remember what I set it at. I am hardwired with a 60 amp breaker. I just assumed that the rate(amperage) setting would show up somewhere. I must be at 32, I guess, since I got 50 miles added during the last 2hours of my current charging routine.

To see the charging speed in kw you have to check the ChargePoint app. You can see it more easily during a charge session or you can go back to a previous session and hold your finger over where it’s peaked to get a view of the charge rate at that time.

I’m on a 60 amp breaker and you can see last night mine topped out at 11kW.

Did you see my post above? If you call them, they will tell you and they can adjust it for you over the internet if you don’t like the number they tell you.

Here is what it will look like when set to 30A. Tops out at 5.56 or so kWh.

You can reboot the charger and then immediately connect your phone directly to it via the app, using Bluetooth. Then you can tell it that it is a plug in and tell it a breaker size, it will adjust to 80% of that. I think the choices may only be 50A or 40A for the breaker, which would give you 40A or 32A output.

Basically you will then be overriding the hardwired default that gives you 60A breaker and 48A charging.

Wow, that's awful. MyJuicebox app let's me select between 8 and 48amps in about 2 seconds.
