Im growing more and more frustrated. My dealer’s communication is pretty poor and this rental car situation is driving me nuts. Everyday I have to call them to get an update on the status of extending my rental car. Usually leave a voicemail and then a text. Sometimes they get back to me the same day….sometimes. They tell me they are submitting to Ford and should get approval. Then the next morning I get a charge to my credit card for the rental. Then they tell me they are submitting for reimbursement for the charges. I really feel like I’m having to manage this whole process which sucks.

Still zero time frame on when they’ll get this battery leak tester that Ford is requiring for the fix.

at $45 a day for the rental I’ll be over $1300 in charges for a month if they can’t get this situation sorted out.

I’m holding the bag here and I don’t like it.

And they say they have the part just not the test device. Is this a thing that they have to perform a battery leak test to warranty the repair? Maybe the Ford account here can help me out? Put the new box in and I’ll come back in and do the battery leak test when the test unit arrives?

Any other dealers nearby that they can perhaps bottom the tester?

I'm not sure. Probably 10 Ford dealerships in town. I would hope they are checking but the tech also said Ford schedules this tester device on where it goes and when. How much truth there is in that I'm not sure.

I guess I could take time out of my schedule to do their job and I might just do that if they can't get this rental business squared away. I'd be happy and they can take their time (to some extent) if I just had a rental that I wasn't paying for. That's the rub for me.

This is in the Kansas City area. The map from the other thread doesn't show any completed repairs in the area so I have no idea if someone is more capable. The dealership I bought my mach e from is who has it now. They said they've sold dozens of them prior to me buying mine in May of 22 and they've always had 1 or 2 on the lot since when I drive by.

We'll see how today's call goes.... ?

This sounds ridiculous. I think the tool your genius dealer doesn't have is what's used to perform the leak test when you fill the system wth coolant after reconnecting the battery.

They do not care about you, and if you want your car back, I think you might need to call the other dealers in your area and see if you can find one will admit to having the tool. Then at least you can "suggest" to the dealer and the Ford person who calls you once a week to tell you nothing what the solution should be.

Or you could lemon the car. I would probably start doing that, life is too short.

Unfortunately, I got the dreaded Service Vehicle Soon alert today, November 17 at 8:00 am while sitting, parked, in my daughters driveway. Outside temp 25 F and snowing lightly.

I had set a departure time of 7:45 and charged to 90%. Started driving at around 7:50 and as mentioned, then parked in driveway waiting for my daughter to come out. Snow was sticking and coming down quite a bit at this point. I dismissed the Service Vehicle Soon and went about running errands hoping the car would continue to run.

I never turned off the car until I returned home around 9:00 am after errands in the increasing snow and very slick roads. What joy. Once in the garage, I turned off the car for the first time since the SVS and opened the door, shut the door and started again. No problem and the wrench icon even went away.

MME AWD Extended Range Build date 6/7/2021. Mileage 10,282. The car received the recall software several months ago so at least I was able to continue driving. Would not have wanted to be bricked in the current weather.

I guess now I start making calls.

If the wrench went away it is almost certainly not the HVBJB

You are correct and it should not be on you in a perfect world; however, may be needed to get your car back asap. Good luck!

Hello. My MME had the HVBW issue and it had to be towed to the dealership. They're telling me since my car is over 36k miles I'm not covered for a rental. They gave me the number:

1.800.393.3673

And told me they have to approve a rental.

The car is at 36,199 miles.

There are a couple of leak tests they need to perform. One is the coolant, which is pretty easy and should not require anything special. The other is the casing integrity leak test. They need to make sure that nothing gets into the battery case that doesn’t belong there. That requires a special tool. I believe it has to be done with the battery pack not in the car as well. ??

36k is the highest failure mileage I have seen, which doesn't make me feel any better about hitting 20k with no failure. What is your top speed on the highway and do you have a lot of elevation changes in your highway driving?

The dealer reportedly reordered the part on 11/9, but states they are getting an error message when attempting COPIS. They were waiting to hear back from Ford for assistance. I received a message from Ford on 11/11 that they have been unable to locate the order, and are waiting for verification from the dealer on the order. Around and around we go…..It’s now been over 2 weeks since the part was ordered, then lost the first time, and the dealership/Ford still haven’t figured out a way to get this thing ordered correctly. 5 weeks total so far at the dealer. I’m not expecting any resolution before the new year at this point.
Update on my vehicle:

After receiving the email from Ford on Friday 11/11 informing me that they couldn’t locate the order for my part, the dealership called me on Monday 11/14 to let me know that the part had been delivered Friday, and the repair was complete. The car was at the dealer from 10/5 until 11/14. Hopefully Ford will get it together soon with their systemic issues to better serve their customers, but I am not optimistic. This whole experience certainly soured me on them.

Well, it has been since Oct 21, that my MME has been at the dealership service area for the HVJB replacement. Update - good and bad.
Thank you to the BEV Team, they have been very helpful in keeping me informed and contacting the service mgr for moving things along. The part came in on Friday, but the only Tech certified to work on EV's is out on a medical issue. I rented a car in week 1, then gave it back because the service mgr said I was top of the list for a Loaner - a week later I was still peddling a bicycle to work. I did get a brand new F-150 FX-4 last week for a loaner, so waiting for the MME isn't as painful (on my legs). If the F-150 would fit in my carport, might think about keeping it...
I have heard nothing about a Battery Leak-Test.

My HVBJB failed Saturday Oct 22nd.

Towed to dealer Monday Oct 24.

Car fixed Nov 17. Would have had it Nov 7, but the dealer let the car sit for two weeks and the welded shut HVBJB prevented everything from shutting off so the 12v died. Took the dealer a week and two weekends to actually properly emergency order a new 12v so that stupidity added 10-11 days.

This weekend is the first time I’ve had a driveable Mache since August 8, minus 4 days before the HVBJB died. Full write up coming soon…

I've been stalking this forum for a couple of weeks now. My 2021 Extended Premium with under 8600 miles got the dreaded "Stop safely" notification and wouldn't shift into any gear. My dealership was very backed up so it took them 11 days to diagnose w/ HVJB Failure...with the part on backorder. I called BEV who will continue to reach out to the dealer about a rental car (I've been in one since the breakdown) and expedite the order. ??
