Got home yesterday from running errands to find this. While driving down the freeway, heard a small "bang" which sounded like something I ran over. However, didn't see anything fly up etc. I'm guessing was a piece of tire the vehicle in front of me kicked up. Pretty bad scuff on the bumper and cracked my headlight. I'm guessing what $700 for the headlight, and no clue how they fix plastic bumpers these days. Like can it be filled, buffed and blended or do they remove and just replace the whole bumper??? Such a bummer as I've only had the car for about five weeks, and have been going out of my way to keep it clean, park away from people etc.

That headlight is going to be a lot more than $700.
Yeah, I really have no clue. I was originally thinking $1k. But saw a set of OEM 2021 units for $1500 online, so thought maybe $700/ea?

I'm sure this will end up being an insurance claim vs paying out of pocket. Next issue will be finding parts in stock..... ugh this sucks!

bummer, looks like something with threads on one end dug into the plastic....

The headlight is going to be REALLY painful.... you might want to just drive with crack. Or, make an insurance claim and eat the deductible to get headlight and paint fixed.

If you take this to a pro, they will want to pull the whole bumper off to sand, prime, paint... probably looking at $1800+ just for bumper repair and paint.

If you want to try doing it 'in place' yourself using spray from touchupdirect.com, I can say that their color match to factory paint code is pretty damn good. I tried it on my InfiniteBlue, andit came out pretty good from 5 ft away. ;) I should have spent a little more time sanding.

If you take your time sanding down to deepest groove depth, and smooth with finer, and finer sandpaper before primer you can probably get VERY good results for $100 in materials and a couple hours labor.

New headlight (Premium / CR1 / GT) in Canada was over $2k...also included a couple of line items for the front bumper. Again, all figures are CAD.

Brutal! After only 5 weeks! Knock on wood, I really do my best to avoid running over stuff, but sometimes you can’t avoid it. I would claim this, and get it done right. Only problem is if you intend to sell, it most likely will be reported on Car Fax by the insurance company.

yeah worst part is/was I have a 2023 GT arriving in a couple weeks I was planning to trade this in on (truth be told I ordered a ‘23 GT months ago thinking it would take a year + to get, and not knowing I would find a ‘22 Premium) Guess that isn’t happening now. Oh well I have loved this car and frankly didn’t need to spend the extra $$$ on the GT. At least right now.

So sorry to see what happened. If you are thinking of trading it in for the GT, you might want to see first what they will give you for a trade as is. The numbers might make more sense to let them fix it rather than you going through insurance and paying a deductible.

If you file with your insurance company, it will be a Comprehensive claim rather than a Collision claim, being that the tire rubber was in motion (flying missile). Most good insurance agents will write Comp with a $0 deductible, because the difference in cost is nominal (between $0 and $250, for example). Also, it will not count against your insurance record as being an "at fault" loss, so no worries there. Just file a comp claim- that's what you pay your premiums for.

Call the insurance. I had a chunk of truck tire take out the grill vents on my Premium. I found the part and figured I'd swap it myself, part was $700+/-
Life got in the way and I dropped it off at the dealer for the swap. Turns out the condenser behind it was damaged and on back order. Took a few weeks and cost right at $2000 all in, including the part I already paid for. Insurance covered all plus a rental
