My Mach-E was broken into today with items stolen. Ford, can we have Sentry Mode?

That sucks. The cameras aren't really positioned to provide the shot you'd want for ID purposes. However having a continual / over-writing recording for security and 'dashcam' duties shouldn't even have to be asked for -- they should just be there.

This is one benefit of tesla using a modern x86 PC as their brains. The current MME brain is a 7yr old cellphone chip.

Sorry to hear about the break in. Since you have the video/pic of the perpetrator you could also use social media to ask the community who this guy is. I bet he lives within a 5 mile radius. Or do it the old fashion way and plaster the A**holes pic all over the area and ask for help ID'ing this human waste.

Not to be a voyeur, but how about sharing the Tesla footage of the break in. Or do I have to wait for an episode of "Wham Bam Tesla Cam"!!!

I’ve thought about this too. After showing my coworkers the Tesla video one said he saw this guy a few hours earlier walking around and we have footage of it. He was apparently hanging out and casing the lot for targets. Putting something in the back or even the front would be an easy target.
If we are going to be parking and leaving items, we stow them at the previous stop for this very reason.

I do the same thing and have told my kids in order of preference:

1. Don't keep anything in your car
2. If you must put it in the trunk at least one stop before your final destination.

I have been known to do my after work shopping with my work backpack on my back walking through the grocery store, the mall, Walmart, Costco, etc.

Not blaming Ford. Just saying it’s a practical, useful, possible feature they should consider. The thief was in and out and gone within 30 seconds. Too fast for anyone to see and stop. That footage may be the difference between no follow up and a lead.
Sentry mode is a huge electricity hog, though. Reports on Tesla forums indicate Sentry mode uses 6-7% of the battery daily.

That sounds like a jealous remark. Why not have it as an option? You don't have to use it. Having an option would be nice. Besides, many folks charge each day.

Sentry mode would be nice along with a dashcam feature (like Tesla).

I always worry that whatever I take out of the car and put in the back will be seen by the perpetrator, so I do hide things inside too. Time to revise my thoughts.
Your thoughts are valid.

If I was going to put a backpack in the trunk, I do it before I reach the destination. Otherwise I try to put the bag into trunk from inside (by folding rear seat) or put it in the frunk.

No, you cannot have sentry mode. Not gonna happen. Unless you want to install something yourself. Sorry you got broken into, though.

We installed the AOSK Console Vault which is good for protecting the wallet.. Frunk is the best place to put the backpack.
I’ll look into that product, seems like a good idea. I work different sites and shifts and call so I unfortunately tend to have a lot of stuff in my car just to make it through each day.

I will consider it. I only didn’t post it because the case is ongoing. But it might be useful to the community to see how easy it is for them to get in.

I'm not against Ford offering the option of some kind of Sentry Mode. But where would the video files be stored? You could use a USB flash drive, but since the USB ports aren't locked up or hidden, what would stop a thief from grabbing the flash drive too?

Not a jealous remark, just providing the downside that should be recognized.

Here's a quote from Tesla Info (https://tesla-info.com/blog/vampire-battery-drain.php)
Sentry Mode
While in theory a great option, this is a simply dreadful option with respect to vampire drain. The car is kept in a high state of power consumption and is the single most important thing you should turn off to minimise battery drain when leaving the car for any length of time.
