You can’t expect Ford to be able to match Tesla on their first try.
Maybe not, but I expected them to be better than this. At an estimated 270 they were already well behind, this just puts them further behind. As others have said, we need to wait to see actual EPA numbers, but if they hold true, this is a big disappointment.

Maybe they wouldn’t see much cancellation but future sale will most likely be impacted. Not good for resale value. I was thinking of buying it outright but might change to leasing if this info is correct.

Remember, the original model S with 85kWh battery pack had an EPA range of 265mi. A few years later, the 100kWh version came out with 315mi. That's roughly the same efficiency (3.1 mi/kWh vs 3.2 mi/kWh, respectively) despite a weight increase. Now, the 100kWh version is rated at 402mi, which is a more than 27% increase in efficiency (4 mi/kWh).

If Ford adopts a continuous improvement model, they should also be able to increase efficiency moving forward.

Has the website been changed to the numbers on the cert? Three months have passed since that test. There should be some calibration improvement between then and now.

While the numbers are somewhat disappointing for the ER, this isn't a showstopper for me by any means given that most of my driving is short haul and local, making a BEV ideal. When I ultimately start driving more post-COVID, expect I'll be doing no more than 50-75 miles in a day commuting. The MME will more than meet my expectations, and I look forward to spending little to nothing on gas. I didn't ever expect the MME to be a road trip car, so range was never a disqualifying factor whatever the ultimate numbers proved to be. Right now, I prefer to rent an ICE vehicle to keep the miles off my daily driver, and like others have posted, figured to continue using ICE once I took delivery for long road trips.

Does anyone know if that’s true, or have a source?

a bit confused on how that could be true if theunadjusted number is still substantially higher in the Y? If the ratio between unadjusted and EPA held true between the two, then it would be a Mach-E EPAof ~260 at best still. And I’m not sure how the unadjusted would go up, the test is the test.
Yes. It's explained in the Car & Driver article posted earlier in this thread. Tesla used a 24.4% correction factor in one of their models.

As for the unadjusted factor going up, that's what's expected when a manufacturer chooses to make their second and third run at the test.

I don't know, but I wish they would do real journalism instead of just copy/pasting from a forum for more clicks.
100%, but if he's a participant it's less objectionable than just skimming forums for content.

Some encouraging news just posted in response to these EPA range discussions from Mike Levine:

" Ford fully expects EPA-certified driving range estimates for the Mustang Mach-E will deliver the targets set. More to share later this month."

They have some maneuvering left so I’ll wait for final test :)

That's a nice relief. Let's all go back to just waiting on the official numbers now :D
