Can you confirm, did the welcome animations go away after you updated? The one that starts when you open the doors with the glowing lines swirling around the car. I’m really hoping they didn’t.

Do you remember what Sync version you were before the update? And what is it now?

Don’t remember previous sync version but current sync version is 22326. I will DM my VIN to you to see if the update history may show it.

just looking at the videos of the update it seems its more of an incremental interface change not a transformative interface change. With the head software guy coming from Apple you would have thought it would have received a major rework to take better advantage of the very large screen. I am not knocking it but with the Apple guy coming in I would have thought he would make his mark with a much bigger change including things people have been asking for like a trunk button. I still can't wait to get it.

Just finished getting the updates using FDRS. Ran GWM update then APIM appeared. The APIM update took forever to copy the files to the USB Drive. Once that was done I had the updated screen like the OP. I like the updated interface.
Strangely another GWM update popped up which I ran but not seeing any noticeable difference yet.

My update was slightly different.

Initially I had GWM, APIM, PCM, SOBDM, and SOBDMC modules listed.

I did not have to apply a GWM update to get the APIM to appear.

I applied the GWM, APIM, and then the GWM that appeared again.

Then the PCM which applied the SOBDM and SOBDMC.

So I just checked mine. Looks like the welcome animation it there when you start the car. If I start just accessory mode it seems to skip it on the main screen. That is what I did in the video, just used accessory mode and it skipped the splash screen.

Transformative change likely comes when they switch from Sync4 to the new Android Auto-based system.

So I can report that the profile bug is NOT fixed.

I got in the car today and the guest profile was selected. I could not change to my profile using the 1 button on the door or by selecting my profile from sync.

I had to reboot sync.

Sequence 2 is me not having the USB drive handy and having to cancel and get the USB drive for attempt #2 in sequence 3.

But seriously, are the major safety issues like guests profile fixed? As much as i love debating tile layouts, I would like to know if the basic bugs are fixed.

We'll just have to wait and see as there's hardly a large enough group of cars with this UI to know.

The profiles were flaky way back when I got my First Edition almost 2 years ago too. I found it all worked so much better just by turning Personal Profiles OFF altogether. All the Sync settings just stay the way they were last set, like a normal car. The seat/mirror memory still works (1-2-3 buttons, indexed to the fob).

There's 2 of us that drive the car but we're fine just having all the same settings, so I've left Personal Profiles OFF ever since.

The 'guest profile after a remote start' is not fixed on the Lightning with the new interface. I'm beginning to think that decision was intentional.

I have no objection to the startup animation, but I was really hoping it was gone (or at least shortened). It takes my car 7 or 8 seconds of animation before the display is ready for input. OP video seemed to show ready in only 2 seconds.

As pretty as the animation is, do you want to wait an extra 5 seconds for it?
