Mach e charger is 7 months old and is toast! Ford dealer has no idea when they will have a new one since they’re on back order! Problem solved , just shell out a grand for an aftermarket one ! Just a heads up?

The mobile charger that is included with 202–2023 MMEs is know not be “not robust” enough for daily use, especially in hotter climates. Original design intent appears to be that it was made for occasional use. ??

I'm super happy with one I recently picked up. I don't have any reliability information about it yet. But it's nice because it has a full suite of plug adapters, which means I am more likely to be able to find a port that will provide me more than 120V, 15A power.
(Note that I use this as a portable charger rather than as my home charger.)

Ford calls that a "mobile" unit. Which basically means it was designed for use when away from home. The expectation is that most people will install a permanent type at their residence.

So you got a whole 7 months of use from that thing as the primary EVSE? Not bad. ?

Was going to mention the same thing - I'm into my third month of ownership and starting to narrow down a permanent EVSE solution, probably ChargePoint.

But I think it's great that Ford includes a decent first charger so you can get up and running, get familiar with more robust EVSEs on the market, and understand your charging needs.

It gave me time to understand really how I charge and to think about what I need as a permanent EVSE - moving to a smart 40A-capable EVSE is "nice too have", I need a flexible charge cord capable of handling sub-zero temps, and something at least 25ft long - rather than rush to buy something right away.

But Ford should make it a bit more clear that the included unit is temporary...

I don’t think it was supposed to be temporary….until they started failing.

Zero mention of it being temporary!

You can claim that all you want but it called a mobile charger and comes with a storage bag. There’s also a custom fit cut out under the cargo deck in back. Almost like they meant for it to be stored there.
But if you are going to “just shell out a grand for an aftermarket one,” then I guess you’re more into hyperbole and exclamation points than logic and listening to the fine folks that have been members/owners for more than 2 years and try to help others.
Hint: There are many many many options in the $300-600 range.

To be fair, it also comes with a bracket to mount it on the wall.

I honestly think Ford originally expected this thing to be able to withstand continuous use, but obviously that’s not the case. If I were Ford, I‘d lean on the supplier to redesign it and replace them all.

My FFE ones didn't even last 6 months. And they were 110v! After 10 years, still the same.

But it's not $1k for another lightweight charger. Heck even new Grizzl-E is under $400 for a 40 amp

I bought this for $150 and it works great. 1% every 6 minutes on my ER. Cable is overly thick, I wouldn't suggest it for most unless your plug is ~10' of your car. There are better chargers for its current price. Being adjustable is nice though. When I got it back in Nov, there was a 50% off coupon :)

Grizzle E just came out with their mobile unit "mini". Has a 120v adaptor too. It's only for preorder or available right now I think.

It's probably robust enough to be come a permanent one. But why? Stash it in back.

Aftermarket?
EVSEs are aftermarket?
The Ford included supply equipment is inferior to all other (legitimate) offerings.
L1 is OK for some (except the supply cord Ford offers), but most folks will rely on a EVSE for much of their electron supply.
Not purchasing a proven EVSE is unwise.
