5 Nov '20 build date, early-ish Job 1.

August 16th of last year was a significant date for this car, as it got what looks like 21P22 and 21G01 together, which cleared out the update list and enabled BlueCruise.

It is on an older version of Sync right now (I think 539 possibly) with no GWM or APIM in the list to indicate that an update is imminent...but if you can talk them into updating the PCM in this list (or even all of this list) then I'm confident that at least the OTAs will start flowing again and you'll be able to get the next gateway (GWM) and the new Sync UI (APIM) update that follows that.

That dealer's service department might not know about the "PCM dependency" issue that's keeping that car from receiving updates, just so you know.

Thank you so much Mike. Did a quick search for the PCM Dependency issue but couldn't find a good description of it. Can anyone provide some info so I can provide context to the dealer? Thanks so much!

Well that's part of the problem. It's not an official "thing". But we know it's a thing in many cases.

There are at least 4, and possibly more, people on this thread who can attest to the fact that;
A) they were on a version of Sync prior to 640 (new UI), and were not getting updates as far back as Oct-Nov,
B) they had a PCM update (and possibly a few other related powertrain updates) in their available update list during this time,
C) and that once the PCM update specifically was done, then a gateway (GWM) update appeared as available in their list or by OTA, and once that was done the APIM update that brought the new Sync UI (Sync 640) became available for FDRS or as an OTA.

And that's how we got to "there's a PCM dependency issue that's keeping people from getting the new Sync UI update."

Dealer techs would not know this unless they have seen it happen on a customer's car, or read about it as an OASIS bulletin. But since there hasn't been any such bulletin released, it's not officially a "thing" with a TSB or SSM telling them to update the PCM and see what happens.

First of all, thank you for whoever created this forum. I'm completely new and a quick google search brought me to this as I've been stuck on 3.6.1 and can't figure out how to get out of this.

My VIN# is 3FMTK3R7XMMA36737

Any info would be great! Thank you!

Hello, my car has been stuck at the dealership for over 2 weeks now and they won't tell me the issue. I was hoping someone could lookup the VIN and tell me what's going on! Any information would be awesome. I just got this car a few months ago so my knowledge is pretty limited!

VIN: 3FMTK1SS0MMA02647

Thanks in advance,
Brandon

20 Jun '21 build date, Job 1 car.

Based on the available updates list below and the fact that you have a Job 1 car I'm going to take a guess that you have never had BlueCruise updates (21G01) programmed.

You may have reached a 'software dependency limit' because of this. What that means is that due to the software revision status of other modules your car has, you may not be offered newer updates because you have other modules that need to be updated first.

I would engage with the dealer to see if the recent moratorium on BlueCruise programming has been lifted and if so have your car updated to enable BlueCruise, after which other updates should start showing up.

Here's the extensive list of available updates for your car:

Starting on the 7th of April they were trying to force an update to your IPMA (image processing) module. This module does all the image processing for the cruise control and reading road signs etc. It failed.

So they have been steadily working the problem and repeatedly trying different things in FDRS to get your IPMA to update.

Just so you know, here's the list of available updates in FDRS this morning
(similar to the list I provided for this VIN on the 12th with the addition of the door modules):

None of these updates would have anything to do with what they're working on. They seem to be focussed on the IPMA. You might call and ask how they are progressing and if they are still stuck you can request that they bring in Ford Engineering support via the helpline.

I would also suggest you get the PCM module updated as well. This module has caused a lot of headache for many owners as it's a prerequisite for additional updates and will not come as an OTA update. Essentially complaining to your dealer as to why you're so behind on updates should give them the authority to update your vehicle and bill warranty.

Hey Mike thanks for your assistance with this Nita very helpful! I’m considering this car as well. White Premium AWD 2021. Has what appears to be the most recent sync version on it (or at least near the most recent). Any info on that other updates would be appreciated.

28 Feb '21 build date, Job 1 car.

It does appear to be running Sync 713 which is the latest.

Not much else really, still has the original HVJB from what I can tell, no evidence of replacement.

That BCM/GFM combo would enable the frunk to open electrically.

This looks like a big list but most of this stuff is updated in response to a customer complaint that something isn't working correctly. I've done all of these on my car and they really didn't take that long to do. But dealer techs take longer.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. Is 21G01 for blue cruise? My blue cruise has always worked from when I purchased the vehicle. I had been getting OTA updates until November, my last update was 3.6.1. Since then, I keep checking but it always just says my car is up to date even though new OTA updates have been pushed out. Is this something the dealer can help with?

Yes the dealer can certainly help you out. Get them to run your VIN number in their PTS system. They have an OTA Dashboard that can tell them if your car has tried and most likely failed to receive and update. If it has shown a failure, they can proceed to bill warranty to have the car updated.

Well that's pretty interesting since BlueCruise was supposed to be enabled by the factory starting with the 7 July (Job 2) cars. So I'm wondering what went on there since your car was built on the 20th of June '21.

If you aren't seeing any further Sync updates then it's likely you have the "PCM dependency" issue like a lot of other Job 2 and '22 model cars seem to have right now.

Once the PCM is updated the dependency is satisfied and the gateway (GWM) and Sync (APIM) updates should reappear as OTAs for you.

A lot (most) of the other updates you see in that list will not come as OTAs.

Hey @Mike G could you run my vin please? I've only had the Mach-E for two months, I've seen just one update come through. I'd love to have some info to help me push on the dealer.
