Why does every one compare the Mach e to the model y?
I was looking at the Tesla before I purchased my Mach e. Maybe call me old fashion but what sold me on the Mach e
1. Display behind steering wheel. Only the Model S and Model X have this (lets compare the prices of them to the Mach e
2. Dealerships (yes it is a learning curve for them)
3. Physical controls ( Has anyone looked at how everything on the Tesla goes through the screen? Even opening the glove box??)
Yes is there going to be issues with a year 1 model car. The question you have to ask did Tesla have year 1 problems and the answer is yes.
We compare it to the Model Y because the specs match up almost perfectly.

I do NOT understand people who back into parking spaces. You people drive me crazy when you appear to drive past an empty parking spot when I'm right behind you, then you stop and want to back up, and I'm in your way? Ugh! Head in!
What's truly annoying is when some people insist on going wrong way in a parking lot with angled parking spaces, just so they can back into them.

To me specs would also include driver display. Model Y and Model 3 do not have. Yes the size is about the same but in my opinion the Display in the "normal spot" is important.
2nd If your main screen goes down in a Ford you can still drive the car. Physical selector for drive and Display for speed. Can you Drive a model Y if your display goes out?

Tesla needs to design the NCAS to CCS adapter. Prototypes need to be made and tested, then they need to be produced en masse. Ford Pass needs to be readied and Ford might need to push some OTA updates to their cars. Offhand, I’d say next spring is an optimistic although reachable goal.
It's actually possible that Tesla was already working on such an adapter. OTOH, Ford will probably start work on software 6 months after the adapters are available.

What about all the other "backer-inners" in ICE vehicles?
Please do make an exception to your behavior expectations for super duty trucks like the Ram 2500 or F-250. It's vastly easier to back those suckers into a spot due to the large side mirrors and backup camera. Maybe that will change if said trucks have 360 cameras.

Maybe regular ICE folks back in so they can make a quick get away in a worst case scenario. ?‍♂

No idea if you can drive a Model Y if the display goes out. You're right about the MME though. I reset my Sync system more that I'd like to work around software issues, and the car is indeed driveable.

Regarding the cluster display, clearly that's a nice feature of the MME and maybe it's a must-have for some people. But I don't think anyone would agree with you that cars are classified and compared by design decisions like this.

Regarding dealerships..... hopefully you're not referring to the purchasing experience?

How is the announcement of adapting NACS sometime in 2025 going to help sales in 2023 and 2024?
It's actually going to begin 2024. Existing Mach-e owners will have an adapter and will be able to access via Ford Pass. 2025, the charger will be built into Ford's Ev's.

generally, tesla does have the adapter designed already - it's a part in the Magic Dock:

i expect the generally released version may be a bit different since it doesn't need to fit and be controlled by a Magic Dock. the fact they haven't deployed more of them so far is interesting but hard to know why.

Actually I used to feel the same until I took a defensive driving class at work with instructors that were police officers. It’s essentially a lot safer to back end park and once you get used to it, it’s also saves you time. The Mach E also makes it really easy with the 360 degree cameras. Here is an article that points out the benefits.

I found the safety benefits compelling enough for my to change how I parked. I also never back end park in angled parking (the instructors also said this was a no no).

I applaud Tesla for forcing their customers to back end park to charge. It’s clear this was a conscious decision on their part.

I want to point out, that I was taught to tap the horn before backing up and to choose a spot in the back of the parking lot - likely to avoid confusion Like you mentioned

Curtis is right on the money.

I started backing in when I worked fire rescue in my youth. In addition to what you noted, it makes for a faster departure.

I remember living in Erie, PA (oh god) in an apt building. I backed in, and the manager sent me a letter saying that backing in led to staining of the sidewalk by exhausts running. I stopped in and asked her if she wanted me delayed while heading to a call where someone's life might be in danger. She then issued me a special pass... Boy, she thought she was in charge of a massive enterprise, not a single appt building.

The physical package will be different, but that's the easy part. The harder part is all the communications that need to happen between FordPass and Tesla supercharger. Also Ford will need to update its navigation to add (and continue adding) all of the supercharger locations to its navigation system.

1)There was no production so there cannot be sales.
2)I think that they have increased production to get cars onto the lots. The order and wait 6 months is not a good model although many will still do it so that they don’t have to swallow the options that dealers throw on cars to raise the price.
3)Most buyers don’t buy the GT models and could care less about the 5 seconds. Checked with a friend with a Premium, prior Tesla owner, he neither knew nor cared about the 5 second thing. I have a GT - I don’t care.
4)Most people buy based on design within the same price range. I never hear about $50,000 ICE buyers going with one brand over another based on $1000 price difference. If you like Tesla - buy a Tesla. If you want a BMW, Mercedes, Lucid, VW or a Mini - buy it. That’s what happens in the ICE market and that is the future of the EV market.
5)None of my prior cars gave me multiple updates per month. What I bought was what I had. I was not entitled to features added to future model years.
6)the Edsel was ugly and didn’t run well

After owning two cars with HUDs... I find driver displays... archaic like calculators or phone booths.

HUDs are amazing in that you no longer need to look down and keep your focus up.

BTW you can drive the Y without the screen. All cars work the same. The infotainment is built on top of the RTOS (real time OS) like QNX. CarPlay can crash (which it has many times) without affecting the control/driving system.
