Why have anything bigger than what the Mustang has..? It is perfect knob to buttons use & a great screen size.

ed: Why is the monitor in a vertical, instead of horizontal position..? Why does it have to sit higher than the cowling..? Horizontal gives better aesthetics and fits in better with a car's interior, as it stand it looks as if Ford just used a cell phone holder and stuck a monitor in the car, instead of actually integrating it into the IP.
I think the expectation is that it will have more connected features related to charging and applications to find charging stations, and they probably want a bigger screen to make those easier to use. Additionally, if they didn't have a bigger screen, everyone would probably be talking about how the Tesla has a bigger screen.

As to the center monitor size. I read the new Sync 4 will be on screens from 8 to 15 inches in size. I wonder, if the interior shown, is the top of the line one and other trims will have smaller monitors with the ability to upgrade to larger screens and better audio systems. Ford has been doing it with all their models the last few years.

Sunday, hopefully, will answer this question.
Its a 10.2 inch digital cluster and 15 inch touch screen standard on all trims (per the website leak).

Not sure what you are talking about, I sold my BMW and went to Ford, so have many people. BMW & Mercedes have cheapened their cars over the years and the gap between them and the American manufacturers have closed.

BMW & MB don't have a Mustang either....

For me, I'd already have a deposit down with the leaked photos, but the interior photo killed the sale for me... I can't have an IN-YOUR-FACE info system. as I have enough face time with a monitor in my daily life, I don't need it in my car. If I could rip it off the dash and keep it on the seat next to me, or floor and grab it when I need to make a change... I would consider it, but as it is.... the Mach is for people who want to play video games with their car's controls, & perhaps watch movies in traffic jams...

The Mustang's interior has beautiful ergonomic and design... the Mach E is no Mustang. As such, if the GT has the same stupid monitor in the middle of the car, then I am out...!

FWIW: The new SUV's from ford are all getting massive backlash over the interior layout because of the IN YOUR FACE MONITOR...! Driving is suppose to be relaxing and engaging, not a staring at a computer video game w/fake controls. Totally cheapens the car!
BMW has the M3...which the way you talk, would be perfect for you as it's a road track car that is great in the corners. Mercedes never impressed me, but BMW has some good selection still. Glad you decided the car isn't for you, because the infotainment systems aren't going anywhere and you'll eventually realize that. I think you are viewing this from a really old school perspective, but everyone and the market is moving forward, PROGRESSING. That's just how it goes. We switched from analog to digital, and now these new infotainment systems are just the next iteration. Jump on or get left behind, it's your choice.

Other then the clown nose, a’ la Tesla, I think overall it is better looking than I expected. It does have an aggressive stance, which is what I like. If you could swap out the clown nose for a faux grille from a 2019 Mustang then it would look killer. I’m sure there is some fancy reasoning behind it, like drag coefficient, lift, etc., but it just looks stupid to me.
Fully agree on the clown nose, it should be indeed be a 'faux' grill to keep an agresive look. I understand it doesn't to cool off the sytsem and a grill is not needed but it looks awfull....
Same for Tesla by the way...

I also hope they will add up some fake engine sound with a waterproof subwoofer under the car so we don't have the vacuum cleaner effect. There are kits where you can simply select the car engine you want to hear, would be great if we could at least hear a V8, better would be a Shelby :)

I'm excited. I'm also a Ford guy. That said, I'm directly cross shopping this with the Model Y. The Tesla interior is , in my opinion, terrible. It does have a clear range advantage though. I'm torn on the Mach E nose. Maybe a carbon fiber look wrap or, as someone else pointed out, a mustang-look grill insert?
Looking forward to the actual reveal.

Because of where I live, I haven't been able to see a Tesla in person and up close. I have heard people comment on the interior and use words like "terrible". I am curious why do people think that? Is it because its super minimalistic or are the material qualities sub-par?

Minimalist to the point of it gives off a cheap vibe. Spartan is a good word. We put down deposits on day one for the 3, but once we sat in it, it was underwhelming. Civic sized, it just wasn't what we had hoped. Granted the Y will be virtually identical to the 3, but I can live with the interior with the increased functionality. All that said, I'm giving the Mach E a chance. I like what I see so far.

How do the material qualities feel?

And I know the Model Y is based off of the Model 3 platform, but I have heard it will be a bit bigger. Hopefully that will translate into more interior room.

I am curious what the Mach E will be like from an interior space capacity.

The material qualities in the 3 are fine. Tesla has moved to all vegan interiors, so that has changed and I haven't sat in them. The thing that really hurt the 3 was being able to sit in a Model S or X immediately after sitting in the 3. The upper end Tesla's are pretty crazy.

The point you missed, is that Tesla can compete with the luxury brands in the minds of consumers at $50k, but I don’t think Ford can do that as well.

And, honestly, the Mustang name will probably drag sells, too. It cheapens and limits the EV in this exact way.

Thanks for the info. I am cross shopping the Model Y, as well, and just trying to do as much research as possible.

The 2018 Mustang interior is a far better place to be than a Tesla model 3 (only the model 3) . Of course, everyone has there own take on aesthetics and design. But I'm betting that the Ford would destroy the Tesla in a blind test. I've sat in both.

The Mach E interior is 10x better than Tesla. Wait till you see the speakers, also the contextual rotary switch embedded INTO the infotainment screen is just brilliant. With things like have an actual instrument cluster as well just makes the tesla interior look like cheap plastic kids car
