Hi all,

My at-home charging has dropped significantly since 6/11. I used to sustain 9KWH @ 40 amps consistently on my Juicebox 40. Now the car seems to prefer 6KWH @ 30 amps after 20 minutes.

I believe this is after the recent update to address the charging related recall.

Seeing if you all are experiencing something similar?

I doubt anything has happened to the charger as I was on another L2 yest and the car was pulling 6KWH most of the time.

Same here. Mine went from 10KW to 7. My dealer checked the car (I specifically asked them to check the charge port temp sensor) and they didn’t find any hardware problem. I guess we’ll have to wait until Ford fixes the software. And hope that what ever gets broken by that fix is less important! ?

Is this across all L2 EVSEs or just at a specific place? Evidently ChargePoint is having issues with their hope chargers, so might be that....?

My lectron is doing same at 40amp setting and usually charging at 6kw. On 48 amp settings my 21 Mache e extendedo red ring at about 3 minutes. So can only use 40 Amp or

Mine is doing the same on a 40amp. The app shows charging speed fluctuating between 8kw and 6kw now. Most of the time it is at 6kw. This happened after the update. I used to always be at 8kw. I posted about it in a thread and people said it was due to the port/evse supposedly overheating and the new software reduces the charging speed to cool it down. I think Ford went too aggresive on this. I have definitely noticed a difference in how long it takes to charge when I plug in at work.

A couple points in this thread combined into one post:

Several are reporting reduced L2 charging rates since the DCFC OTA. Multiple EVSEs. Mine is the FCCS.

Chargepoint is having (may be over by now) server issues affecting some EVSEs.

If your charge port ring is red, you most likely have a problem with the car, not the EVSE and not software. You likely need the charge port replaced due to a failed temp sensor.

I saw this earlier on FB. It looks like the new update bounces between two charge rates, perhaps to condition the battery, perhaps to keep your cheap 14-50 outlet from catching fire. You can see it in the graphs.

Has Ford told us why? It's not an accident, or a coincidence.

I am noticing slower charging today on L2 at work, but it is a ChargePoint charger so could be related to the issues others pointed out specific to CP. Typically get 6.4 - 6.7 and it seems to be locked at 5 today.

My 21 GT has done this one time and back to 11kw ever since. Typically its a solid line at 11kw the whole session.

LOL this thread numbet 5 @Administrator can we combine all the threads regarding this issue into one.

As I mentioned on the three other threads. This seems to be an issue with the DCFC update. if you have a 48 amp charger drop it to 40 or 44 for it to be stable. If you have a 40 drop it to 32 or 36. Max charge speed seems to affected by the new update

Btw i have a juicebox 48 and you can see that it starts fluctuating after I try bumping it back to 48

No its not that. At 48 amps the car wont even start charging. Whatever they did to the dcfc curve/protection messed up the ac charging.

Both of my cars, each with the latest charging related updates are still doing steady 9.5 kW on ChargePoint Home Flex. Same as before the updates.

That said, I wonder if the latest updates introduces some new sensitivity to "noise" on the grid in some service areas. This was a problem for us early Job 1 cars in Northern Illinois back 2021. Painful memories here in this long thread:

Our electrical circuits here are top notch over here. If anything the temp sensor sensitivity on the port might have been increase to a point where max current levels on EVSE'S are no longer acceptable

I think it’s some kind of increased temperature sensitivity or else the charger cooling pump isn’t being turned on and it’s overheating? Can you hear the coolant pump hum while it’s happening?

Resetting the SOBDM may help if you have a scan tool, you could try a 12V reset too and see if that restores full power.
