Stopped by Discount Tire today to get a nail removed from one tire and get my first tire rotation done. Checking in I talked to the service manager about the lift points in the car and he told me they would just use the jacks so they made sure to hit them correctly. But a short time later I looked up and noticed my car in the shop and on the lift using blocks between the frame and lift. I might not have worried too much about this but they missed the rear jack point by over a foot so those blocks where lifting by the frame there. I don't see that it caused any damage but I really wish I had bought the lift here stickers. I'm hitting amazon now.

I bought the Corvette pucks recommended on this forum. Hand them to the shop with the key. They always seem happy to use them.

I use the same lifting beam without any issues. I lift one side, drop that side onto stands, then lift the other side, drop that side onto stands, then work on the car. Stands go on the lift points on the perimeter frame of the car. ??
The fastest and easiest way to do a tire rotation in your own garage ?

Without actually being there this looks OK. The blocks work as a jack and you can see they are very short and only contact the car at the Jacking points.

but its hard to tell from this angle if they are on the jacking points or not

The front blocks are at the jack points but the rear blocks are about a foot in front of the labeled jack points. That is what worried me. But I'm not sure how sensitive the frame is to that.

The perimeter frame is pretty stiff. My truss bar falls about a foot short of both lift points and I haven’t measured any plastic deformation of the car where I place its pads. ??

I think I will just bite the bullet and take it to Ford as well from now on. I just hate that the "Quick" service means I have to leave my car there all day.
I lucked out I went there with I noticed the screw in the tire and they worked on it immediately. I was worried it would be an all-day affair. Took about 1 hour.

I recently went through a similar situation. I have a local place that I have been going to for years for tire work but when my Mach-e picked up a nail in the passenger side rear tire I ended up taking it to the dealer.

I asked about it at my local place and they said they could do it but when I started asking about specifics like lift points and how many EVs they have worked on it didn't inspire confidence.

I know it sucks going to the dealership. I still can't believe I had to make an appointment to get a tire patched but honestly for me anyway it came down to trust and I trusted my dealer more.

Yeah I wasn't in and out in under an hour like at the local place I go to but I didn't have to worry about damage to the battery or undercarriage and if that did happen becasue the dealer fucked up at least it happened at the dealer not a third party.

At least y’all can do rotations, with my rims having different offsets no rotations for me… then again I rather be rolling on 22’s

It’s fine, stop worrying about it. You don’t have to be right on the lift point (how would you even use jack stands). That beam is miles better than the flimsy pinch points most cars have.

Completely agree the important thing is that they don't lift from the battery and although it's a little hard to see it does not appear they did that.

100% Agree

How fragile do you all think our cars are?
Towing and ripping the tray rails is one thing - but this is a static lift of the car. As long as they aren’t on the battery it’ll be fine.
