Well, I would definitely argue they HAVE fulfilled that promise (and continue to do so).
Yes but part of the promise that was made was that the frunk activation would be added to all early Mach Es that were delivered with frunk dividers. Not fulfilled.

Plus charging speed increases, battery capacity increase, and now (soon) a power increase?
I don't believe it has been documented that early Mach Es ever saw a battery capacity increase. We'll see if that power increase happens. If Ford can't deliver on a frunk release, how will they deliver on a power limit that is based in under-sized contactors?

Sure, the pesky frunk button hasn’t happened yet, but it’s still coming.
Yes but will it be any faster than Elon's promise that a Tesla will drive all the way coast to coast without driver input by next year (first promised several years ago).

Ford can deliver on a frunk release, they’ve simply chosen not to. What they absolutely cannot do is change the laws of thermodynamics. I have no doubt Mr. Palmer is being reasonably open about a change in the current limit but they cannot cram all the GTs current through the design limited HVBJB, then other components, and associated systems without accelerating failures.

At best there’s going to be a modest bump in the 5-second limit. The real change will come with model refresh. Hopefully.

It’ll come on the same schedule as the Frunk release. They’ve both been around about as long.

Worth it.

Especially since it’ll have no effect on my 8 year warranty.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if we get two options:

1- 480 hp, extended limit. OTA free

2- 562 hp, extended limit- $2,000

Option 2 I would go for and it would offset the cost of some warranty claims.

I'll take a number 2 please?

Tom Moloughney of State of Charge interviewed Darren Palmer and asked him about the thermal management on the Mach E and GT.

Palmer responded: "We do throttle after a certain period of time, um, the power to the wheels, so that's something we can control over the air and we are going to change that limit. We've done that on testing to make sure the vehicle lasts the way it is expected for the customers..."

That’s quite a lot of money. Also, quite a big jump in performance for a car that initially limited even 480hp to 5 seconds. While I would love it, I don’t see a HP increase of that much happening, not after what the GTs initially shipped with for reasons.

Obviously I’d love for this to happen but we’ll we.

That’s the thing……

we have absolutely no clue what the real limits of this car are.

But now Ford does, has extensive testing, and is willing to increase the current limit.

So why not dream big?

I’ve repeated this many times in the 5 second debates:

Zero Mach E GTs have broken due to acceleration. That tells me we aren’t as close to any limits as people think we are.

By this point a few ICE Mustangs would have broken a transmission or rear end. But us? Nothing.

Now that you're making me think hard about this, the promises started with the very first dog and pony shows with the Mach E. Remember the ones right after the Los Angeles reveal? I think it was one of the promises then about how the car would get better and better with over the air updates. So, you're right, it may not have been 2020. It may have been November 2019.
Actually, I remember, either at the reveal, or one of the very early webcasts, they kept saying the Mustang Mach E GTPE was in “supercar” territory.

0-60, skidpad, braking…… it is.

As long as you consider the Lamborghini Urus a super car.

Here’s a bit of what I think also affected the calculation: the new model HVJB has only been in cars for a little over 1 year. Ford wasn’t certain that they wouldn’t see failures of the new part as well. Other than “infant mortality”, I believe there have been two instances.

You guys are like the spouse that was cheated on. Ford comes back, making promises to do better, and last for more than 5 seconds, you all buy it hook line and sinker. Just being set up to be disappointed and unsatisfied again. When will you all learn.

hasn't been my experience in over two years. The only thing I wasn't happy about was getting only one key fob, low and behold some months later, ford provided second key fobs to early owners.

PE owners have already paid the premium. Now a $3k package for base GT makes sense.
