You won't throw an overheat code with the current software because the derate kicks in first. In the previous software, it would let the port get all the way up to 105ºC before stopping charging, throwing a charge fault, and setting a P0E5F code. Now it derates when it gets to 80ºC so it doesn't get hotter than that.Except i've yet to throw a code no matter how hot I get the handle/port so far.
That's because the door latch modules have internal battery backups to still operate with no external 12V present.Actually I think I might go pull the 12v battery again. I'd got the door module update a second time a week or two ago, and 4.3.6.
BTW when i pulled the 12v I could still open the door with no issues. I tried for nearly 20 minutes opening the door a couple times. The screens never came on but the door kept opening with no problem. Wonder just how much capacitor is in this car lol.
If your garage temp is only 80ºF and you're derating, then you almost certainly have a bad charge port or J1772 handle (bad connection). You shouldn't see any derates unless you're charging in temps above 86ºF or so.My garage never gets above 80 when I charge because it’s always in the evening
Usually it much cooler, it derates every time now
But since I’ve already derated the EVSE hard to know when it is fixed
