He said the 5sec will change, but didn't mention which way. Maybe after further testing, it will be a 3 sec limit.

People tried to make that joke 20+ pages ago……..

But here is what he said in the video:

“one of them is the limit on the throttling on the power of the GT, it
Has a fantastic 0-60 time but then we throttle the power to the wheels. That is something we can control OTA and we are going to change that limit.”

^^direct quote.

No way to interpret that as making the limit more restrictive. Context matters.

No where in that quote does he says how Ford will change it. Just that it can be changed OTA.

Dude...

At this point it's just arguing for the sake of argument. Time to go touch some grass.

I’m going to pile on here. For all of the issues with the MME, Ford Dealerships and Ford in general, christ man. There are a lot of folks who have felt duped and misled by the marketing Ford did regarding the GT and the GTPE being track ready. At this point, it is anything but.

Allow these folks to have some hope that Ford will make this right. Especially because a executive member has gone on the record stating rather clearly that the intent and the testing and validation to fix this has been done.

“We are going to change that limit.”

Because you can doesn't mean you should this is a silly car.

Any car worth having is, in the end, a bit silly.

Otherwise, we'd all drive 4-cylinder CVT econoboxes. In shades of brown and taupe.

It would be an incredible case of asshattery if the "change that limit" quote means anything other than increase the on-power time or remove the limiter entirely. It's possible, but that'd be pretty much straight up lying, and I choose to think there's still some decency in the world.

I’m just curious how soon this is going to be pushed. Probably not as soon as the BC 1.3 OTA roll out, if I was guessing.

For those of us in colder climates, if it isn’t within weeks, it might as well be next June. I can just imagine my childlike excitement on Christmas Morning going out to my GTPE and seeing the glorious OTA notification has finally arrived! No…wait…there is snow on the ground and it’s 30deg outside!

I could be optimistic and believe that if the 5 second limit is being expanded, then maybe the whole jail bar system will go away. Doubt it though.

Yeah pretty much…. Maybe 7 seconds...
If they could stretch it to 8.72, you'd at least be at full power for as long as it takes a Rimac Nevera to run a 1/4 mile ?.

This is exactly what they needed to do from the start if it ran the quarter there would be almost no complaints. At least not much to complain about.

Yeah, interesting no one said, "Let's pick a better time than an arbitrary 5 seconds." I have trouble believing the math worked out to exactly 5 seconds.

It was probably supposed to be handled by the team that checked the LVB access panels and rear cargo cover with the windows down.

Has Ford ever even said “5 seconds?”

I honestly think that’s just the “about” time we made up.

I do know it’s “72 mph.” And it doesn’t matter if you take 5 seconds or 30 seconds to get there, that’s when the first grey bar shows up.

The limit may not be time limited at all. Just may be a speed, charge, battery temp and external temp (and combination of the above) that reduces power.

Don’t know until you poke through the code.

But I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if “time” isn’t even a calculation other than “discharge amount over time,” which they have said reduces power. Example of that is after driving high speed for a distance or back to back full throttle.
