Does anyone by chance know if the recall includes EU models? They have same production site
My son just bought a MME AWD SR Premium built Aug. 9, 2021.

Wow, how’d I miss this yesterday? Also, not sure where y’all are seeing this will be a proactive replacement? It’s very vague.

I will be very curious about the part numbers used for the latest replacement HVBJBs.

as I understand it, there are two replacement HVBJB part numbers that are distinct for GTs and non-GTs.

I found out because I get Carfax emails and it said that there was this recall. I clicked their link and saw the notice, Googled the recall number and it showed me this thread.

I want to apologize to the forum as a whole for not searching here first and using Google instead.

My thought is that Ford knew these needed to be replaced but they were buying time to make sure the new part would fix the problem before they rolled it out to everyone. They didn't want a second recall down the road if they moved too quickly. This is a good sign that they feel they have a handle on the problem.
This is almost certainly a result of the NHTSA opening an investigation into cars experiencing catastrophic junction box failures (immediate loss of motive power) despite having had the recall software update installed. I’m sure Ford would much rather continue its wait until it fails strategy. This recall is going to be expensive, it’s going to replace a bunch of junction boxes that might never have failed, and it is going to tie up the already limited pool of EV techs for the foreseeable future. Replacing all of them is absolutely the right thing to do, but I doubt Ford is doing it voluntarily.

SR battery has a much lower maximum output current, even with AWD.
I didn't realize that the extended range battery gets a power boost as well.
Found this online about the 2022 Mach E.
Ford Mustang Mach-E High Voltage Battery Junction Box (HVBJB) Replacement Recall for recall HVBJB in 30,013 Mach-E 1697565648289

I only considered a SR RWD, so I didn't pay that much attention to the differences with the extended range / AWD.

:Uninformed Theary:
HVJB created the need for power linitations on GT.
Perhaps with this latest, they may be able to remove that?

Not really because of the timeline.

Power limits came first

Then came the HVJB issues

Then came an announcement to change the limits

Then came the recall announcement

At the very least, they seem somewhat unrelated.

That and the HVJB issues affect all models.

My theory is that the recall may delay the power change update though.

Lesson learned (hopefully) for the next generation of BEVs coming out of BOC in 2025?

I checked my VIN for my SR premium RWD. I wonder why SR vehicles are left out? It does seem like as our vehicles and RWD vehicles are less inclined to have the problem, but it must still be a problem in our cars.

Because standard range packs don’t draw as much amps as extended packs, so the contactors don’t overheat nearly as easily. There have been relatively few HVBJB failures on standard range packs.

Just spoke with the dealership. HVBJB has been replaced, battery is being re-attached but clearing one of the codes is giving the tech trouble; call into Ford Engineering so no car today. Sigh.
