The 12v battery gets charged when you drive, and when the car is actively charging. So, if you drive 3 miles, come home, and charge from 89% to 90%, in fact the 12v battery really didn't get charged enough.

Some people, SOMETIMES, may get a System Off To Save Battery... message on their big screen. Unless you see that, don't concern yourself with the 12v battery. Even if you do see it, it just means it's time to drive it.

Or, updates may fail, because your 12v battery isn't charged up high enough. Not any issue, simply drive the car for 30 minutes (or just start it and run it for 30 minutes) and the update will usually apply just fine.

This ^^^ If you didn't read this forum, 99% of the "issues" would be unknown to you and of no concern.
Thanks. That’s what I thought. Since we only drive around town - longest “road trip” was an hour long, LOL - we don’t put many miles on the car. Only 2000 in the past 8 months. We try to charge when we have 60-65% charge and our preset is 90%. Maybe one charge a week.

Just trying to be proactive - hate to be searching for answers real time when NEEDED! Thanks.

If you have an Android phone Play Store has the widget .Its name is Ford Status Widget . As I and the developer have stated the widget does not work properly right now but if you feel like downloading it and waiting for Ford to "allow" it to be functional again you'll be pleasantly surprised by the widgets usefulness .
Ah. Got it. But I’m an Apple user, not Android. So no widget for me.

Willing to bet that won’t get updated when the battery dies. It will still say 12V while you’re wondering why your car is completely dead. Not at all useful IMO.
just an FYI - the home assistant fordpass integration has implemented the new ford API and it exposes the LVB SoC. as with all the other data points in the API, it only gets updated when the car deems it necessary to send them or when a forced refresh happens.

it is useful for watching over time to see if your battery is dipping into the concern zone (60-70%). hopefully when @kennelh gets back to the widget he'll implement the SoC value instead of the less granular and truncated V value.

I’m monitoring mine this way (refresh twice per day only) and in any day it’ll go from under to 50% to over 80%. This seems like quite the variance, no? I did get the electrical drain message this month so am wondering what can be done to ensure the 12v has adequate SOC if I don’t drive often (though I just had an interstate road trip 2 weeks ago). I saw the post about reconditioning the 12v but not sure I need all that.

You could try the BMS reset:

I haven't had any LVB concerns, so I haven't tried the reset.

Read this for ideas what the drain could be:

Never had the lights blinking off and on or not being able to power it off with a dead 12V. I have had a dead 12V multiple times and normally it spits out a bunch of errors to the IPC when modules do not boot fully due to lack of power and then it will not go in gear. No light show just a slow unresponsive vehicle.
I am on my 3rd 12 volt battery - car is driven every day at least 27 miles - when it goes, the same thing happens - at least I know how to fix it now, just keep an extra battery on hand

You should probably switch to the 40Ah from Advance Auto if you're going through batteries that fast.

I have lots of short trips, I treat the MME like the F150, keeping HVAC blower on setting 5 ignores the BMS's lower float voltages and keeps voltage higher allowing for increased charging on the 12v batt. Without the blower on setting 5, the batt will be in the 70-80% region. The earliest sign for low 12v batt charge is sync going to sleep.

Since keeping the blower locked at setting 5, all 12v battery issues like sync sleeping have vanished.
