Hey everyone,

Recently a very strange issue started to happen with my Mach-E. It looses SoC during overnight charging at home on Level 1 charger.
Let’s say I plug it with SoC of 86%, then in the morning it displays 81% SoC after 4 hours of being connected to Level 1 120V EVSE.

Also it produces a ton of heat and warms up my entire garage and makes it very noisy there due to running fans non-stop.

I took it to the dealer, told them that it loses SoC while on level 1, showed them videos of car spinning fans and cycles coolant non-stop and of course the outcome is nothing. They simply hooked it up to a level 2 EVSE and found nothing and said that vehicle is ok at this time. I had no time to argue so I picked the car up.

Did anyone come across the issue like mine?

thanks in advance!

PS: DCFC seems to work just fine. Level 2 10kW seems to be slower now and also makes car to generate heat and spin fans like crazy.

What kind of charger do you have? I assume it's the Ford mobile charger?

Yes, I have a ford one, I also have a few others but the problem is still same.

Yes, the screens are from being connected to 120V outlet

Do you have the ability to park outside and try this? Just to remove the enclosed space from the equation.

Well I charged at the other house on Tesla wall connector J1772 version and it was very cold in the garage. I came back in the morning it was warmer in the garage and car was spinning fans and other stuff like it was doing on 120V the difference was it was not losing SoC, basically charging.

So, the second tank is at or below minimum

So wondering why it's low. Leak, or did somebody work on it and not refill fully?

It takes Motorcraft Yellow coolant, you can get that from a dealer or some auto parts stores.

You could also have a failed coolant pump or something?

So I corrected the coolant level by adding VC-13DL-G predilluted coolant.
I also noticed some aluminum pipe corrosion I guess or oxidation (see picture)

Alright, try to charge again and check the coolant level every 30 minutes in case it goes down more.

Aluminum will take on a bit of a white appearance at times, that's not really concerning to me (that's an A/C line, so if it leaks you'll notice lack of A/C).

Ok, thank you!

Trying to charge now.

P.S. I can see that coolant get pushed into coolant tank near firewall, it almost looks like it’s “boiling”

p.p.s this car has never been to dealership for work that touches coolant. The coolant reservoir cap was covered by the dust I guess no one touched it since it came from the assembly line.

@Mach-Lee do you happen to know what are the symptoms of a failed coolant pump? Wondering if I can diagnose it, forscan shows not dtcs regards that.
