Mach-e and Lightning sales are down, but IMHO, people's interest is still there. So, what is it going to take to translate interest into sales. Lower prices? New battery technology, like solid state? Longer range? Or, will sales be in this valley until the second generation comes out in 2026?

Winter needs to end.

Evidence of easy to get tax credits at the dealership needs to be widely seen.

Recalls need to stop happening.

Tesla needs to open their network AND it be all over the media.

Lower price and easier to charge. In my opinion.

If didn’t have a house, I probably wouldn’t own an EV.
If I were to buy again now, I wouldn’t buy an EV. It is excruciatingly painful to use public charges on an ongoing basis. Something happened in September last year that fundamentally changed things.

I am no expert regarding economic issues but I sense there is still some economic “doom” hanging out there. Not necessarily recession or any of the doom and gloom type but overall I keep reading where CC debt is rising, many young people can’t afford homes, wages not keeping up with cost of living. I am not sure if all of this is true or exaggerated but if true many will not have the money to purchase a higher priced EV even if they are interested. Then there is how to get the lower cost L2 out to the masses and not just homeowners. Of course range for many (as already mentioned) is an issue. An issue I find for cold climates is an ICE vehicle is just warmer in the extreme cold like we are experiencing now. If you can only afford one vehicle a BEV is not going to cut it. Basically I am saying there is no simple answer but lower costs or resuming the tax incentives would certainly help.

If I lived in Ak, and had only one car it would be ICE. I have no idea how you tolerate the crazy cold. o_O

Living in a more temperate place (Oregon) both my cars are electric.

1) Easy charging access would help demand. ... Tesla SC access will help the EV industry as a whole over the next 2 years... NEVI may help a little... but it's miniscule compared with the Tesla network.

2) Lower interest rates would help demand. (but the interest rate hangover from printing $6T will be around for a while longer)

3) Lower priced cars when Next gen EV's start to arrive will help demand. Ford and everyone else is scrambling to figure out how to get them to cost less... they will hit parity with ICE in a few years.
