Very true. I think that they could have also contracted with the manufacturer to have a multiple thousands of the adapters ready to go no later than a week after the opening of the SC network. That way the folks who found out later aren't waiting until Jun, July, Aug, etc to receive an adapter they reserved in Feb. And you have to also factor in that GM, Rivian, Polestar and Volvo will get access to the SC network this spring per Tesla's about NACS section on Tesla's website. I can only imagine that will create even more of a logjam for the manufacturer of the adapter.
They probably needed to complete testing of the prototype adapters first to green light general production though. Presumably that testing just wrapped up this month (with success) and Tesla is starting adapter production en masse (for Ford first).

Yes, I think all major manufacturers have signed on now. Kia was one of the last, and their announcement said 1Q2025. So looks like about a year for total roll-out to all manufacturers.

Yes, $13/month.

But even without monthly fee, their standard rate is lower then what I have to pay for electricity at home from the local utility company.
At home my rate is $0.53/kwh. The two closest Tesla superchargers are $0.44 and $0.46/kwh without membership or $0.35/kwh with memebership.

My local utilities wants to increase rates by 15% again this spring. So potentially my home electricity rate could be around $0.60/kwh in a few months.
I didn't realize there was such variation across the U.S. I pay $0.11/kwh at home

This shows where the industry currently stands on NACS adoption.

The adapter will work on the V3 and V4 (250KW) chargers. The older V2 and V1 chargers are 150KW or less. So you don't want to use those anyway as the charging speed will be too slow.
Mach-e can't charge above 150 KW, so using a higher power charger doesn't incease charging speed. Issue with the V1 & V2 chargers is that they use an older protocol.

Essentially, access to superchargers increased the odds of finding a reliable charger to spend 45 minutes at. That’s it. Still a significant improvement than before. Except, well, the cable length, which will continue to be a very big problem when a Ford EV shows up at a busy V3 or older supercharger. And it’s a huge financial and logistical undertaking to replace all V3 and older supercharger cables with a cable that’s 6 feet longer.

For anyone still having trouble ordering, if you have given another account access to your car, try using that account. That worked for me.

Given they just pushed the plug in charge update to all the cars, do we know if there are any other adapters for sale now that one could get immediately?
Interesting how they could deploy this OTA over night but 80% of the other OTA's are still floating around in the airwaves. Technically yeah, you should be able to use P&C at a magic dock (virtually the same as this adapter).
