Poll: Do You Have The Charge Assist / Public Charging SYNC App?

Changed my vote, it showed up this morning in my car. I did go and use P&C on Tesla late last week, maybe that triggered it.

That's the first time I've heard of that happening. Maybe with the Tesla roll out they'll start pushing it out again?

Keep in mind that the Nav software in the car is not built by Ford, but by Garmin. This is probably why things like charge assist are a separate app. If they can add it to the nav software, they probably have to work with Garmin to get it included in a future release.

it is software that ford ships on ford vehicles. if ford has an issue getting the features they need into the software they ship it will drag down adoption of their vehicles. the fact they have to "work with garmin" is a problem ford needs to deal with if it won't happen in a timely manner.

on my road trips i am continually of the mind that whomever designed the Navigation app has never used it on a road trip in an EV. it does the bare minimum to give the impression it is useful but ends up being frustrating to use in practice.

if ford would expose charging (and preconditioning) data and functions to android auto and apple carplay we'd get a much faster iteration on charging navigation capabilities instead of waiting for years long rollouts of ford OTAs.

100% agree. I only use it to get preconditioning. The list of possible chargers is also suspect:
- Seems to favour chargers that are "behind" me vs. up ahead
- Recently wanted to route me to a charger with 1 km of range on arrival (I cancelled and routed again)
- Routinely suggests I cross an international border to charge in New York State when I'm close-ish to the US.

So I just went out and checked the car and Charge Assist was installed. I guess all you have to do is talk about something here and it happens, Anyone want to talk about Blue Cruise 1.3.

Did you get any updates in the interim or did it just magically appear? I seem to remember for me it is just showed up randomly one day, not OTA.

I received the Tesla charging update a week or so ago but the Charge Assist app wasn't on the screen yesterday when I checked.

I charged at an SC on Sunday, and got the update this morning. Also my charge on Sunday ended up being free.

Correlation does not imply causation. I doubt the two are linked, but I do think there is a bit more focus on this feature now that access to Superchargers is open, and this is one way of finding them.

And maybe Ford is actually pushing it out to the 30% ish of owners who don't have it.
