Sigh... I guess it was only a matter of time. The 2024 Ext AWD Premium with a sticker price of $49,995, plus 20% faster charging time and possibly slightly better range, is officially a better value/purchase than my 2021 First Edition.

This new information makes it even harder to buy one of the new 2023s stacking up on lots. I would still probably buy used at a steep discount, but otherwise I'd take a serious look at the 2024s.

if only Ford did the Porsche thing and understated its numbers.

I gotta think that Ford upgraded the bus bars (or whatever the limiting factor is on the ‘21-‘23) to supply more power to the motors and enable faster charging.

36 mins and 12 seconds seems awfully specific on the 10% to 80% charge times so I’m guessing that’s exactly what they’re going to deliver. I just wish the older ER packs had that time cuz damn, if it doesn’t suck to hang out for so long at a charging station with the short range of the GT.
I'm with you there. Those numbers are very specific, so I'd have to assume they are being open about the charging, performance, and range.

I'm still hearing that the current MME owners will get a performance/charging OTA, but after this press release - it must be very minimal. The hardware enhancements are the differential in these stats(imho)

More Exhilaration for 2024

April 9, 2024

For 2024, we’re taking everything our customers love about Mustang Mach-E and incorporating that feedback into the vehicle. That means more performance – the quickest production Mustang Mach-E ever – capturing the thrill of driving with mountains of electric torque. That also means additional range with improved DC fast charging speeds, and more options matched to what our customers are looking for. And a new electric pony for our growing stable that can take you off-road1 when you want to get your Mustang® a little dirty.

Faster than the Tesla Model Y Performance: The Quickest Production Mustang Mach-E

Our 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT with the Mustang Mach-E GTTM Performance Upgrade truly is the quickest Mustang Mach-E to date2. 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds, it is faster than both the Tesla Model Y Performance and the Porsche Macan 4 Electric3. It cracks the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds at 114 mph4.

The Performance Upgrade combines innovative powertrain thermal modeling and control algorithms, and our new in-house eMotor helps to deliver the improved torque – an additional 100 lb. ft. compared to vehicles without the Performance Upgrade.

Separate from the Performance Upgrade, we've standardized popular performance features, such as the Ford Performance front seats, MagneRide® Damping System and Brembo™ branded front brake calipers, for 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT. These were previously included only on the 2023 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition.

The new rear eMotor, developed in-house by Ford engineers, that debuts on all trim levels of the new Mustang Mach-E, weighs less and helps to deliver improved torque across the 2024 line up.

Impressive Range and Fast Charging

The 2024 Mustang Mach-E® SUV with available extended range battery charges almost 20 percent faster with DC fast charging than previous models, enabling drivers to charge from 10-80% in approximately 36.2 minutes and get back on the road – that's 8.8 minutes faster than previous models – and standard range battery offerings charge 10-80% in 32.3 min, which is 5.7 minutes faster than the Mustang Mach-E at launch5.

And Mustang Mach-E gets better with each model year. Again, thanks to the new eMotor, along with other tweaks and improvements, we’ve increased the range of the vehicle compared to the first model year of Mustang Mach-E in 2021.

It's nice to see incremental improvements being made to the Mach-E.

I don't see any info on what's changed for the Premium with Extended range battery and AWD variant, and would love to know more if that info is available?

Why is the rally’s range so low? Mechanically, isn’t it just a lifted GT?
My guess is tires, rims and lift - in that order.

Probably the tires are the biggest factor, but I am only assuming there are some off-road capable tires on the car due to its off-road focus. The rims look to be equally aerodynamic, but that can be misleading. Air flowing over wheels can do unexpected things.

Yes, as @mkhuffman said, tires, the heavier unsprung weight plus the lift.

Mine has been lifted 2" and has about 5% range loss.

Awesome, glad to see these improvements! Is the '24 GT still getting all-seasons?

What is Performance Upgrade - $995 or $745 ? Is just new wheels and tires are something else ?

Where was the new rear motor previously mentioned? That’s a bummer, as it is highly doubtful older Gets can buy the performance upgrade.
There weren't really any solid reports about what this performance upgrade was/is - nothing in the order guides or on Ford's dealer sourcebook. I'm glad they finally released this, every Mach-E GT I order will have this on it - shouldn't even be an option lol

There must have been hardware upgrades to the battery to allow more current to flow for longer. I’m curious if the latest HVBJBs are the same as in the ‘24 cars.

Arguably, the specs we’re seeing today are what should have been on the MME back in 2021. Regardless, the refresh looks good and I wish I had the money to trade in my ‘21 GT.
I'd love to know if there is a significant change in the HVBJB hardware, sensors, or software that could be transplanted to a '21 to enable full WOT for 12 seconds!

5 second limit still there?
I’m guessing a change there based on the quarter mile improvements.

So a model y performance is 0-60 at 3.5 seconds and a quarter mile of 11.8 at 115.6

the new gtpe is 0-60 at 3.3 and a quarter mile of 11.8 at 114. It seems like there is still a bigger power cut than the model y is seeing. Wonder how how much the highway performance has improved in the Mach e gtpe.

This confirms the new rear motor is going in all trims.

Will this be the final stake in the heart of the argument that the bus bars will melt and the GT will turn into liquid magma if they let it have any more power?
that assumption is based on no changes to the batteries...Controllers... cabling etc. there is no evidence one way or the other that the other items in the 24 have changed or not.

No, the 5 second limit has been extended. Currently unsure as to how far it was extended. That 114mph trap speed indicates that the limit was probably extended to 8 or 9 seconds (compared with our current 103mph trap speed). I won’t hold my breath for the OTA that extends the limit though. I will be dropping the license fee for FDRS as soon as I hear that the upgrade is available to manually install. ??
