Do you mean to say: are you buying a modified bits from other cars turned into a slow and ugly vehicle that goes 0-60 in double the time of the predecessor? That is what the mustang II was.

I think the better question is are you buying a Zune instead of an iPod? I loved my Zune and ZuneHD, but nobody else ever bought one so they all went away and Apple dominated. If the Mustang isn’t successful then Tesla’s dominance will grow.

Have you read/seen ANY of the overwhelmingly positive reviews? The MME performance is on par with the current ICE mustangs, given equivalent trim levels.

In case it helps ease your mind, this is a review from two die-hard Ford truck fans (one of which owns a Mustang). To me, this demographic of reviewer would be one of the toughest critics, so if they even acknowledge any good things about the Mach E, boy it must be a pretty darn great car!

Although they seem hesitant to "go all in" on the Mach E, you can tell they are trying real hard to come up with something bad to say but are having a difficult time.

Let's put the onus back on you as the poster. Why do you think the Mach E is like the Mustang II?

I don't think anyone is forcing you to buy a Mustang II.....are they?
I think there are professionals out there who can help with stuff like this.

Zune and iPod is a very good comparison. Both Apple and Tesla have a following of, shall we say, enthusiastic customers that give them free advertising and evangelize their products.

What's interesting to me is that Elon started Tesla with a goal of electrifying all vehicles (by proving it can be done). Apple did not have that goal with the iPod, but for some reason they are both defended the same in that these companies can do no wrong in a lot of people's minds.

I wonder if there have been studies to look at the psychology of this.

Why? The Mustang II was an massive success, sold like hotcakes, and was mutli-award winning, including Car of the Year 1974. The idea that it was terrible is modern.

So how or why do you think the Mach E is like the Mustang II?
