I've been willing to call my Mach-E an SUV for the past year until I got my federal tax credit. Now I'm now calling it a car. It's a little taller than most cars, but I'd say it's a lot shorter than most SUV's. It's funny that some people have raised their Mach-E's, and others have lowered. To each their own. I suppose you could call it a "Hatchback", but that doesn't really suit it either. My previous car could fold the back seats down and have way more space than the Mach-E with seats folded. Not a lot of storage space. Barely enough for 2 sets of golf clubs with the seats up. I did bring my golf clubs to dealer last winter just to make sure they fit (deal breaker).

I don't have any discussions where I need to call it anything. But if I did, it isn't an SUV.

I guess the first question is, what is the definition of SUV vs CUV, etc.?

In my mind, I'm thinking CUV...
Google says

SUV stands for "sport utility vehicle," and traditionally refers to a larger vehicle built on a truck chassis. CUV stands for "crossover utility vehicle," and typically refers to a smaller vehicle built on a car platform. The term "crossover" is often used interchangeably with CUV and generally refers to a vehicle that combines features of both SUVs and cars. SUVs are known for their off-road capabilities, while CUVs and crossovers are designed for better fuel efficiency and on-road handling.

SUV would be like an Expedition and the MME is more like a CUV.

To me, it's just a super-sized version of a regular 2door mustang. 2 more doors, taller, wider, longer and heaver.

That’s a sliding scale. Probably easier to define first what it isn’t.

It isn’t a sports coupe nor a pony car.

Hatchback, station wagon, SUV, crossover………. Take your pick.

5” ground clearance and small size hurts the SUV argument.

Unfortunately its closest cousin might be an Audi Allroad or a Honda Crosstour ? Except the crosstour actually has more ground clearance.

Whenever I’m driving around and there’s this model of BMW. I have to kind of take a second look cause it almost looks like a Mach e. The Mustang I guess is more of a crossover, and you don’t have to say oh my God or hate on me for saying this but, I wish they would’ve called it a Pinto lol Pinto X??
