Ended up switching over to chargepoint home flex due to the whole flex up to 48A aspect. Arrived a few hours ago, just got it installed. Hardest part was flipping the 14-50 outlet with those massive wires behind it (had it wired up to be able to switch over to 48A hardwired).

This just makes waiting for my car that much harder

I installed the chargepoint as well. Have the Ford charger on order and it was actually going to be cheaper by $30 but is not expected until sometime in January and I wanted the tax credit for 2020.

I just installed my Chargepoint Home Flex Charger, I did cut out a section of drywall and replaced it with 1/2 inch plywood. I didn't think over time the dry wall could handle everyday stress. I also have a garden hose holder under the charger. all attached to the wood. I had planned on on using the 14-50 plug unit however my electrician didn't like that at all and suggested that I hardwire the unit. Installed a 50 Amp breaker and cable and it is done. Had my buddy come over plug in his Tesla Model 3 and it works just fine. Now I have my vanity plates and the charging station covered, now looking forward to when I get my MME.

How did you get the vanity plates already? Don’t you need the car to register it?

I put my vanity plates on my current car that I'm trading in (and thus transferring the plates)

I did the same. Have been rocking "MACH-EV" plates for a few months on my Veloster.

Wish I could do this in Illinois but one is required to get an Electric Car plate (pay more to renew because we don't pay motor fuel taxes) and they're random number only.

No we in BC can order what ever plates you want ( as long as are not already in use or deemed uncivil) all you have to do is transfer them to the car you want them on when your new car arrives. The application form is gives you five choices and you put them the order of preference. My first choice was MACH E but someone beat me to that one(darn it). It takes two months from application to approval then the plates. My Audi Convertible got the upgraded plate for the time being. Get your requests in early or someone will get it ahead of you. My third choice was MME then E PONY.

Currently an owner of a 2018 Nissan Leaf SL. Rather than buy a wall charging unit, I opted to put in a 14-50 NEMA wall plug, 50-amp breaker, #6 wire. The manufacturer called for a 40 amp breaker, but I put in the 50 thinking about cars in the future. So my Leaf comes off lease in the next few months and seriously considering the Mustang. I guess my question is why do people want these wall chargers when it is just cheaper and efficient to just put in the 14-50 wall plug because the EVSE supplied will fit right into this plug? Not only are you paying to have the wiring and breakers done, but now putting a wall charger in.

I think it's been brought up quite a few times. Most of us want a dedicated (wall/poll mounted) EVSE for stability and ease of use, and so that we can keep the included mobile EVSE in the car for emergencies when out and about.

Whether you go with a hardwired or plug-in EVSE for home/stationary use is another decision. Some, like me, went for a 14-50 plug in wall-mounted unit so that if the EVSE dies/faults/etc, I can easily plug in that included mobile EVSE and keep on charging.

Note that there is a 30% tax credit available for the purchase/installation of EV charging equipment. You can claim that credit for just putting in a 14-50 for EV charging, but if you have more tax liability you might as well purchase another EVSE to claim more credit.

Ahh makes sense. I should have done that. “E-Pony” would look cool on a Honda Accord. ?
I have E Pony on my 2016 Escape right now. Already had some questions about that . . .
