How do I prepare for leaving car while on vacation for 6 weeks

According to the owner’s manual, for storage over 30 days, you should leave the HVB at 50% and disconnect the 12V battery. But you’re about to get lots of suggestions of other things to do instead.

I set my charge amount to 50% and run the battery down to about 50-65% and then leave it plugged in..

I don’t disconnect the 12v battery as that’s a giant hassle e.g,, how do I open the frunk to reconnect the battery when I return.

as long as HV battery is 50%-80%, I'd say, go on vacation and don't worry. HV will keep LV charged up just fine. When you get home, you might want to turn MME 'on', disable auto-off, and leave car on overnight so it charges LV up to 100%

If the car is 50% when you left, just charging it back up from 50% to 90% will charge the 12V the whole time. Leaving the car ‘on’ is probably not needed. As long as it’s actively charging it will charge the 12V up.

I've left my 2021 AWD ER for six weeks on three occasions. I leave the HVB at 50-55% and unplugged. Every time I've returned I have found the car to be just the way I left it.

Wouldn’t one way be to charge a bit every couple of days? Let’s say you start with 20%. Then remote charge it through FordPass to 25, 30 and so on until 50-60% over the course of a couple of weeks.

This is way more work than required...just put it at 50%, no magic charging dance required.

No. The right way would be to do what Ford says, and states in the manual. If you don't want to disconnect the 12v, then put it on a trickle charger.

You cannot reliably control things through the app. And, an update could make it charge to 100%. It should not be left plugged into the charger for 6 weeks, PER FORD.

I’ve left it for 6 weeks. Completely disregarded the manual and did nothing special. To no one’s surprise, it opened and started up like it never even knew I was gone. YOLO, right?

I've left mine for at lease 4 weeks on two occasions with no problems. Someone on this forum recommended charging to around 70% then leave it not connected to the charger. That worked fine for me.

Each to their own, for me using 5 seconds 2-3 times to activate a charge in the app instead of the process of removing panels and whatnot to access the 12V seems less of a hassle.

Strange, since day 1 it takes about 5 seconds to start / stop charging in the app. Sure, the app visually updates slow, but it still accepts the commands sent (just minimize it after command sent).

In my manual / service info it sometimes is English, sometimes Norwegian and sometimes it mention stuff related to service of an ICE instead of EV vehicle hehe! It don’t built trust in their written guides, hence my skepticism to the “read the manual” gang.

The better question is, "What do you do for a living or are you retired, that you can go on Vaca for 6 weeks"? Just know, I'm not jealous in anyway shape or form. It's ok I've been "plugging along" for 25 years and never had more than 2 weeks/year................any way, I digress.......I don't know how to help you as I have never left for 6 weeks .... ? ?
