I know a lot of people say 80% with EVs but I've been doing 85% to get a few more miles since we have the AWD standard battery. Right now for example it's sitting full at 85% with 194 miles range stated on FordPass.

Is it really going to degrade the battery noticeably more over time going to 85% over 80%? I think the "80%" number is oddly specific and a little more won't hurt. But I don't really base that on anything that I've seen or read, rather, just want a little more range.

As Space_Pony says, the manual for the MME recommends 90%. Each manufacturer bases their recommendation based on the amount of reserve capacity designed into the battery. My Chevy Bolt recommended charging to 80%. Ford recommends 90% for the MME. That is what I usually charge to. If I am taking a trip I will start out on the first leg of the trip charged to 100%, and then while using DCFC stations I will charge no higher than 80% due to how much slower charging gets after 80%.

90% as Ford recommends. 100% only when I really need it.

Doesn’t the SR Premium come with an LFP?
I thought the LFP was on to charge to 100% everyday.

Yes it does come with LFP.

Charging to 100% is useless though, it will be down to 96% before you even leave the driveway. Or in one case where I charged to 100% at work on a ChargePoint charger, it was down to 96% before I was out of the parking garage.

My Samsung phone gives me the option to save the battery and only charge to 80%. It's a lithium ion battery thing. It likes the 20 to 80% range.
At home I charge to 70% unless going long distance then as much as I need or 100%

We do 80% daily and 100% for trips.

Could probably do 50 or 60% since the car has rarely seen below 30%, but it's nice to just have that buffer in case we have an extended power outage or unexpected longer day trip.

Due to the upper and lower buffers in the battery, 85% indicated is very close to 80% of actual battery capacity. ??

Useless?

Have you read your manual? It provides specific instructions for charging the LFP battery.

Charging the MME to 90% is like charging your phone to 80%.
They left 10% unusable, meaning even at 100% displayed, it is only about 90% actual.
