The real question is how many are they shipping per week?
judging from the fact that ford hasn't apparently shipped significant numbers out since the early june batch, I'd say not many, because I'm thinking if ford had them, they'd be shipping them.

I thinking a little about these adapters and opening the superchargers. It all seems a little off to me. Even before Ford went live I could roll up to a magic dock supercharger and use it in either my Ford or my Kona. Seems like a lot of this is the oems just wanting to be special and have plug and charge. Essentially rather than retrofitting with a bunch of magic docks, everyone now needs some sort of software update and an adapter. I have to think that there are some folks (probably at Tesla) scratching their heads wondering why this could not just be done the easy way…

for whatever reason tho, magic docks are a tiny number of overall tesla chargers and they're growing at a spectacularly low rate.

If, as some have stated, manufactures will be moving to NACS the. There is not quite the need for magic docks - adapters will be all you need.

Its almost like Tesla got the US to switch to NCAS and is now doing nothing on purpose. Why bother? Let everyone switch their cars over and eventually they can charge at Tesla stations. Make a few deals, see if it boosts share price, then just ignore/sabotage all the deals that were made because Tesla got what they want.

Litigation is an interesting game. Mr. Musk tends to lose rather frequently at that expensive game of chicken. Contracts in effect relate to the opening of SuperChargers and even the adapters. Ford has a very robust litigation firm at their disposal and they're not afraid to use them.

When I inquired about mine I was told by end of June. Still not here.
You neglected to ask which year. ;)
We should also remember that the trailer has to be full before it leaves the dock. Shipping cost money. Anybody have the physical dimensions and weight so we can guess how many to fill the truck?
Ford uses a freight forwarder (aka Logistics firm) in Detroit to distribute the officially approved adapters. That firm slaps the shipping labels on the boxes and then tosses them in an aircraft shipping container (Underhanded for extra oompf). That container is then loaded onto a tractor-trailer rig and the containers get dropped off at the FedEx facility at Detro Metro. From there it goes to Indianapolis or Memphis, gets sorted with other stuff, and then is sent to points unknown (sometimes literally). Trucks aren't involved again until the stuff arrives at a regional/area destination facility.

right, but, you can get them elsewhere w/o issue. so... what's the big deal
The big deal is we don't have our promised adaptors yet, and we shouldn't have to buy unapproved, third party equipment to make up for Tesla's failure to produce the official ones.

$200 may not be what it used to be, and it may be nothing to you. But in my household we don't spend $200 on something that was promised to us for free unless urgency outweighs frugality. For those of us who have not had any road trips this summer for which we felt a Supercharger adaptor was necessary, that equation hasn't tipped enough to make us pay for something we'll eventually receive gratis.

And just because something is free, that doesn't mean we should just shut up and wait until the heat death of the universe for it to come. It's perfectly reasonable to criticize Tesla for not producing the adaptors in sufficient quantity to meet Ford's original shipping estimates, which were very conservative and undoubtedly based on Tesla commitments.

A few weeks ago, there were 736 SuperChargers equipped with Magic Docks, and 15,300 more that we could use with adapters.

I believe you'll find that most OEMs do NOT have Plug and Charge capability.

Smashing cargo for a major freight airline (not FedEx or UPS) was how I paid for college.
Heh, I worked for a security/software company. Oddball combination. The boss was into all sorts of stuff. Met him through my dad’s locksmithing and came to find out that he knew a few of the guys I used to “trade software” with. ??
