Anybody know of a tool that can be used to easily adjust the Konis without taking off the wheels? I'm imagining a really long wrench with the koni adjuster at the end.

By the way, after peaking for the first time in about 6 months I noticed my caps are loose on both sides.
Yeah, I found that the round adjusters that come with the Koni's don't really fix on top very well with them installed. I had a tool that worked great that I made until I dropped it and it landed somewhere that never made it to the ground.

You still have to jack the rear end up a tad to get good access to it but you can use a small adjustable wrench. Stand the wrench straight up and down and turn it until you can come at it from either side.

The tool I made was just a short stubby little hex bolt that I took my Grinder with a cutoff wheel and sliced in a little slot on it. It fits right over the koni blade adjustment part and then I could turn the hex top of the tool with a ratchet wrench. I may need to make another one now that I lost my other one. Sure was quick and handy.

It's in the a-arm diaper. Mine rode around in there until I finally took it off to find it.
I'll look into this HF screwdriver thing. I'm doing brakes tomorrow so i'll have an excuse. to fiddle with the shocks a bit.

The tough part about this is you can only get about 1/3rd of a turn on the Koni with anything longer than a knob, the ratchet mentioned above would solve that, best if you have a refernce mark to go off of. I've turned my way further down than I thought more than once using my 'stick' which is just a flat chunk of metal with a slit in the side.

Mark , I just installed your Koni shock fix on my 2021 Mach e AWD ER, and I'm so happy! (so is my wife) she has hated the bounce from the rear, all gone now best $550 I ever spent, thank you thank you Bill Gunnett

Out of curiosity what setting did you go with on the Koni's?

Hey all, it has been a while since I first read this thread and I was wondering, is there still no better aftermarket shock available specifically made for the Mach-E?

Another thought, what about the shocks of the latest Mach-E models, are those (much) improved compared to the shocks on a 2021 model?

There may be aftermarket shocks out there now but the only company as far as I know that makes an aftermarket shock for specific vehicles that has a REBOUND adjustment is Koni and they do not make a shock yet for the Mach-E. That is why I had to modify one of their shocks to work.

Are the 2024 shock part numbers any different?
The part numbers for the '21 and '24 shocks were the same when I checked a few months ago. I can check again and get back to you in a couple of hours.

If only one of these Tein, Bilstein or Koni would step up and produce a full set of comfort shocks for this vehicle but so far none have offered anything. I suspect it might not be feasible for some reason for them to do so and now with the 24 GT's all coming with Magnaride there's likely even more reason to scratch the Mach-e off the list. I'm not sure what percent of Select and Premium owners have an issue with the ride quality. Probably not enough to warrant Development & production from any of these companies.. :(

As I mentioned earlier I would check the part numbers again and they are different between the '21-'23 and '24's. Rear shocks for AWD extended range battery non-GT '21-'23 is LJ9Z-18125-H. For the '24 it is a LJ9Z-18125-K. Did not check the fronts but assume they are different also.

Interesting. I wonder what changed...

Looks worse on this 24 Premium.

It could be a slight change in valving (maybe a bit more firm) or shortened that long bumper stop. They could have changed the upper or lower mounting materials or nothing at all and just a different manufacturer making the shock. Whatever it was probably wasn't much. Back in the day I would have purchased both to compare them (the updated shock is $15-$20 more) but unless I become bored, nothing really motivates me to do that now.

Seeing as your car has Magneride, I would say you have already gone way over and above. Investigation of the 2024 shocks isn’t something you need to do. ??
