For what it’s worth, I looked up that station in PlugShare and I don’t see any non-Teslas leaving reviews.

That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t work, it just means there isn’t evidence there that it does.

There will not be an error message if your payment is expired or declined. It simply won’t work. The onus is on you to have it set up and current.

If you call up ford plug and share (there is a phone number on the website), they can check if your account is in good standing currently.

Was it hot, or was the station fairly full? I have had charge station faults before, although on very hot days (over 110f i think). I moved to a station in less sun. similar to your report, it charged correctly for a minute or two.

It took months for the Tesla chargers to become activated on my Ford Plug & Change. When it did, the OTA stated that it was done specifically for Tesla supercharger. I needed to charge and pay through the Tesla app until it did.

I went to try out the Tesla Supercharger adapter today. I have Blue Oval charging network setup as prescribed and successfully used it on Electrify America chargers. I went into the Charging app on the infotainmant center and, sadly none of the Superchargers near me are compatible. So, I chose one about 10 miles away in another city.

I connected the adapter to the Supercharger cable as prescribed and then plugged it into the car. The white spinning buttons turned solid blue. So, I get into the car and it says, "Charger starting" on both the big screen and in Ford Pass. It stays that way for about 5 minutes and I get a "Charging Station Fault". Bummer. I do some shopping and come back to a different charger at the same location. Same result.

I'm using a Ford adapter and charging at the Supercharger in the map below.

What do I do to diagnose this?

Most likely a credit card issue. Been there and done that?

Welk, I tried again with the Ford method after changing the payment info but it still didn't work.

The good news is that the Tesla app works. I just wanted to see if the adapter was functioning, I'll probably never use it but it's a good backup.

That's another reason to try the Tesla as a troubleshooting step. I was given a MasterCard gift card to cover expenses for a road trip. I added it to both Ford and Tesla accounts. Ford just kept giving me the red ring of death, the Tesla app actually gave me a pop up saying it was unable to charge the credit card I had given it. I don't see why Ford can't do the same.

I'm pretty sure I got the Tesla update on the Mach E. It's been a while since I got any updates but I can remember telling myself after one update, "Great, now all I need is the adapter." Is there a way to check?

It's possible that the payment method was wrong on my account. The credit card had to be replaced because it was lost. I just now fixed that and will try again later. It's odd that I wouldn't get a payment denied message. Maybe the Ford/Tesla communication isn't very sophisticated.
It really bugs me that there is no history of updates available in the Ford App. It only shows the latest update!

I can’t find the article right now, but the Tesla nacs with a silver ring is not updated, the updated ones have a black ring. I will keep looking for the article.

Like most that have received theirs, I ordered mine on the first day of ordering: the morning of Feb 29.

The Tesla Supercharger cables with the silver ring are V2, which are older 150kW stations. V2 Superchargers do not have the hardware needed to communicate using the CCS protocol, so they cannot communicate to non-Tesla cars.

V3 Superchargers have a black ring, a thinner liquid cooled cable, and have the hardware to communicate to non-Teslas. But, Tesla has not made every V3 site available to non-Teslas, likely due to them already being too busy just servicing Teslas.

So, silver ring = not for you. Black ring = maybe.

I'm curious about this, will all chargers at a tesla station be the same generation, ie all gen 2s or all gen 3s or will they be a mix.

Now if they were only a little bit longer!

There are some mixed V2 and V3 sites, but those extremely rare. I've only seen them out west, but there could be some in the middle and eastern parts of the country. None of the mixed sites have been assigned as NACS compatible.
