I don’t usually complain on here but I have a 2021 GT and it has not had a software update in a year now! I have everything set the right way. I’ve checked it countless times. Everyone else I know that has a 2021 has a screen that looks completely different because they get updates. Why is it so hard to make a system that pushes updates out in order and regularly? Every other auto maker seems to have a pretty good system for this. Ford just is horrible at it. Any tips or ideas to get this turd to update?

If I had gone a year without updates I’m sure I would have started doing them myself with FDRS. I went six months without updates and then I was starting to think seriously about it.

But thinking logically, it's totally absurd to invest $1K per year in something that Ford dealerships do to update only your car, which is something that Ford needs to do...

No reason to actually pay for a 1 year license unless you absolutely need every update.

Most of which people get and don’t even know what changed.

It's not really "$1k per year" to do your own updates. One can get a 2-day subscription to FDRS for $149. The device can also be bought used, then sold.

2 days is actually $50

And I don't know if it's accurate to say "Every other auto maker seems to have a pretty good system for this."

Not even close.
Ford's closest rival would be GM, right? Ummmmm, you might go check them out? There's plenty of echoes over on those forums.

I received my first update in 13 months yesterday. My car works fine so I do nor care. Perhaps you too may get updates again soon. My understanding there was an issue between a firmware version in our vehicles and their servers. The issue was something had to be done on the Ford server side. Must have finally gotten to it. No issues either way for me at this time.

Hyundai enters the chat.

I'm not defending Ford by any means, but plenty of automakers have idiotic issues with software in their vehicles.

But who said that? I think only Tesla and Rivian have this bull by the horns...

Its funny to watch a bunch of Hardware 3 (2019-2022) Tesla owners complaining that they had to wait almost 6 months for the latest FSD updates. It was a huge controversy over there. If only they knew how good they have it....

For real though, Ford should be giving everyone a year of complimentary Bluecruise for this complete disaster of a rollout.

Does Ford need to update your car? I get that it can be updated, and if there is a problem an update is necessary. But just because they can update your car over the air does not mean your car needs it. Plenty of cars never get software updates. I realize that this is the direction we are headed (all cars will be connected eventually for good or bad), but has Ford actually promised to update our cars that are driving just fine? I don't remember being told that but I have to admit that I never questioned it either. I know that some people were promised a new BC version via update when they purchased. But if it weren't for this forum I would have no idea about most of the updates.

It's been two years now for me.

The old screen format is better and the car works fine, so I don't accept updates.
