Wow - this has become a chronic issue. After my original posting, after I returned home w/ my mach e, I went through the reset process and successfully set up PAAK again. All seemingly working ok. The next day, I had my 10k miles service appnt at my local Ford dealer. While the vehicle was there, I GET ANOTHER SERIES notifications (ford pass & email) stating that the same reset of PAAK has occurred and only a remote will operate the vehicle - exact same as incident 1. Ok - well I'm not too alarmed, thinking that the dealer had to do a reset. I PU the vehicle and bring back home and follow the whole process again to set up PAAK - successfully I might add! This was about 2pm yesterday. All seemed good. BUT - I GET ANOTHER SERIES of notifications this morning that the reset/wipe of PAAK has OCCURRED AGAIN (3RD TIME)!! I am at a total loss. I've given up all together on PAAK. Anyone else having a similar experience? I'm hoping that Ford will chime in - my opinion of ford continues it's downward trajectory!
I'm thinking that maybe I uninstall FordPass and re-install? I'm happy to go thru the whole set up process if I can circumvent this continuing issue!
This has the stink of a hardware malfunction on it. Something (Likely a module of some sort) is randomly losing power or memory. I hope a sharp tech can suss out the cause for you without too much more trouble.

This may go deeper than you realize. You phone may have been hacked leading to password ineffectiveness. That would give a 3rd party the ability to do what your experiencing.

Ford should use those who are willing to receive 'beta' updates to find these sorts of issues before they send them out to the rest of us.
They do, both internally and externally. It’s one reason this is an odd situation.

I was up visiting my brand new grandbaby yesterday about 50 miles from where I live where my daughter and family were in the hospital with the newborn. Inexplicably I get a notification by email as well as the Ford Pass App that the phone as a key feature reset and that I could only operate the vehicle now with a remote. I have used phone as a key since I purchased the vehicle and have never had such a problem and luck has it it reset my phone as a key a significant distance from home. Completely stranded! I called Ford customer service and to say I got a run around would be a very strong understatement. I ultimately hung up on them in complete exasperation. I had to incur the expense and the inconvenience of getting home some 50 plus miles away! I had to drive back today with my wife (and the remote) and successfully drove the car home. The fact that such an incident like this can happen has created a complete lack of confidence in the phone as a key feature! A hard lesson learned in that is always, and I mean always carry the remote control. Another sour experience with with fordpass! I remain incredulous of the fact that Ford cannot find some consistency in the Ford Pass App!! This would force me to really rethink whether I would purchase another Ford again. Overall I love the vehicle but the Ford Pass App to me is an integral part of vehicle ownership and there is such a level of ineptitude associated with the app!
The only thing I know you can setup in the MME, in case this happens, is the backup password option. This has saved me once in the past.
Ford is so far behind in the game on software and tech. If this happens on a Tesla, you can FULLY remote start the car from the app. (not just the Accessories and AC)

Their app access (PAAK) and backup codes were apparently all regarded at the same time. The only option was a fib that he didn’t have with him. Perhaps we will get an update soon.

I have a 2021 MME and had to use a Phone-as-a-key because we only received one FOB. I bought another FOB and had it programmed for over $200.
Ford changed their policy and gave me a check for FOB I bought.
I also lost bluetooth connection for my phone, so I use the USB port snd that never fails.
The problem(as I see it), is any phone update and any Ford update are not coordinated.
My solution is to always use a FOB, they receive no updates and never trust the phone.
Also, storing a spare FOB in the car in a faraday bag is a nice solution, but change the keypad on the door to an easily remembered code, to access the bag.

You don't need a phone or a key fob. Why didn't you just use your pin and password?

Taking many of the above comments under advisement, I went so far as to do a complete reset of my phone ( it was about time anyway to clean it up since there was so much build up of apps and preference conflicts) and also changed my Ford account which entailed a different email address and a new password. So, to address any hacking possibility - that is no longer on the table. I have set up Paak but I'm still presented with the problem of location not updating (been stuck on a location I was at over this past weekend) and the mileage and range not updating - actually stuck on mileage reading from completion of last charge LAST WEEK! Complete frustration and exasperation!

Yep! Same thing happened to me. I had to get a ride 6 miles home to get the key fob; it could have been much, much worse. I had to delete the app and the phone from the car and reinstall everything.

After all of the resets, the gremlins are still hard at work - Ford/fordpass RESET THE PAAK yet again! No hacking here - this is purely a Ford issue! As Sparkout mentions above, I'm going to uninstall /reinstall fordpass.

Stupid question: Are you the first owner of the vehicle, or was it a used one?

I would suggest doing a 12V reset in your case. You might have some stuck modules that need rebooting.

did you try your door access code and then the start code? Or did that stop working when your paak failed?
