But you then lose the original £500 which was refundable up to the point of confirmation. Right now I'm still in, but I dont like the timing of this announcement.
I think you’ll find your original deposit is still refundable up until the point of delivery.

Online vehicle sales are subject to slightly different set of regulations, and if you check the Ford Marketplace Terms & Conditions you’ll see that is the case.

No mate, just ETA and in transit. I didn’t pre-order until June, confirmed in December, so if it is right, I will have been lucky alright!
Status now changed to ‘awaiting shipment’ and ETA now 07 Feb. Not sure how much faith to put in this tracker!

Online sales team confirmed this for me as well via email. Deposit is refundable up to day of delivery

Not much. That's the date mine said last week. Ford are supposed to give us updates on our cars progress. My status on my ford account still only shows ordered. Although it was built 6 weeks ago it is not showing as in production even. I'm beginning to think that the only update that I can trust will be when my dealer rings to say it is in and he wants my money. I'm fed up trying to second guess where my car is. I can't even get onto Grimaldi's schedule to see what ships are scheduled now.

Looks like Ford is delaying deliveries for additional quality checks in the US.

https://electrek.co/2021/01/15/ford...-mach-e-deliveries-additional-quality-checks/
Tesla got slammed for pushing out a LOT of poor quality M3 and MY's with defects. I'd much rather Ford got it right.

Re; Cancelling of course you can but the waiting lists for all the good EV's is pretty long. You join at the back of the queue. Og course if lots do cancel I might get mine quicker ? :p

I'm really in a dilemma now.

My dealer has confirmed Feb build and June delivery but the VIN tracker just shows In Order Processing.

If I now place a new order it is quoting 14-16 weeks for same spec AND same colour AND same dealer! That would make delivery end of April/May. A full month or more earlier than the June quote.

So should I place a second order and take whichever comes first and cancel the later one before delivery.

Ford UK told me that regardless of quoted dates older orders will be fulfilled first but posts on here seem to contradict this.

If cancellations do push other orders forward then that's great.

I have a feeling the Ford ordering system makes cancelled orders with booked build slots available to new buyers rather than shuffling all orders along and matching spec and colour of cancelled orders to other queued orders.

I.e. my space white SR RWD has a build booked for Feb. If someone else with the same spec cancels their order it just be offered up to the next person placing a new order for that spec, rather than giving me the earlier slot and then holding my later slot open for someone else who may want to place a new order.

I doubt we will ever be able to find out. Ford will schedule passed on what works best for their manufacturing efficiency. It's a bit of a gamble but if you order the exact same spec i doubt a new order would be fulfilled before and old one. That would be bonkers.

No, who told you that? I think they wouldn't have a leg to stand on as your order is not customised unless you've added something like an ejector seat!

Would you gamble on that system offering you 16ish weeks! Nooooooooo! That's just a made up date calculation for new customers. A guestimate out of thin air.

This is not the first time Ford have been in this situation. In December 2006 I ordered a Focus CC3 (the hard top convertible). My delivery date was supposed to be April 2007 but they found a problem with roofs seals which were leaking so they had to dealer fix those that had been delivered and stopped production until they had new ones made. I eventually took delivery in the September. The only reason I knew what the problem was because my dealer had 2 that needed retro fitting. Then there was the more recent problem with the Kuga PHEV. Although this didn't directly affect me Ford were still cagey about the problem until they knew that is was a supplier issue and not theirs. If I have a problem supplying my customers with the product that they have ordered I'm upfront with them and I expect to be treated with the same respect. Ford, I'm afraid, are losing that at the moment. Not enough, yet, to pull the plug but I am keeping a close eye on things. I am prepared to cut them a bit of slack because given the situation I think they have done a not half bad job.I am still optimistic that things will be done and dusted soon.

And the fact that they are fixing it before it causes a problem is better than us getting the car and then needing to send it back and being without our car (whereas for now I have a car I can use until this arrives). I think I will be closely watching you watching them.
