Hello,
First post, please be gentle as I've got a lot to learn. First EV, just bought a 2023 Premium AWD from Carvana and would like to check it over as much as possible in my 7 day guarantee period. A friend who has a Tesla said I should charge it to 100% and compare the stated miles to the expected range (312). Is this the best method to check battery health? Thanks!

Nope, that not how Ford's range estimate works. Ford uses actual temperature and driving history to give an arguably more realistic range estimate than Tesla. Ford's Guess-O-Meter (GOM) tends to be fairly conservative in mixed use, but it will tend to overestimate range if, for example, you drive a bunch of highway miles when you normally don't. The estimate is heavily temperature dependent. Mine showed a max of 310 this summer vs 270 EPA rated. It seems to start dropping below EPA estimate once temps dip into the 50s, and just keeps dropping with temperature.

You can pull battery health with an OBD reader, but even that isn't exactly a straightforward number. See this thread:

No, the best way to check battery health is to use an OBD-2 reader and the free Car Scanner app. The reason being is that the Mach-E’s range guesstimates (lovingly called the Guess-O-Meter or GOM on this forum) bases its estimate off of recent driving history and current temperature. If it’s cold, the estimate will be lower than if it’s warmer. If the recent driving history is low in the number of samples and the samples are all of aggressive driving, the guess will be very low. The GOM is known to be. Sore subject for a lot of members here because while it can estimate accurately, it can also make some nutty estimates as well. ??

What’s the mileage?

Be interesting and more relevant to judging the HVB SoH (high voltage battery state of health)

That database referred to above provides a good idea of how “good” your battery is once you get hooked up to an OBD dongle and scanner app.

Ignore the outliers and you’ll have as good a set of real-world statistical data you’ll probably likely to get on what I know.

Mine’s been between 95% & lower 90s since c50,000 miles when I first started monitoring and now at 104,000 miles is measured at 93.5% SoH.

Unless your 7-day rejection period is unconditional you may have an argument over rejection if SoH is over the warranty “problem” percentage which I think from memory is 75% SoH.

Anyways, hope you enjoy your EV and more specifically your Mach-E experience.

I have an unconditional love for mine?

It works like a horse and just eats up the miles.

you don't need to do a master reset, you just "reset driving history" I think it's on the trip screen of the sync 4 screen? But I haven't done it in a long time so I could have the location wrong.

here's how to do the driving history reset

To manually reset EV driving history:

  1. Click on the Vehicle image on your vehicle's SYNC®* screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Tap Vehicle.
  4. Select EV Driving History Reset.

Bear in mind that resetting driving data will give you a massively over optimistic and unrealistic range at full charge which will not revert to a realistic value until you’ve driven some way and it’s become accustomed to your driving style & ambient conditions.

From the VIN you posted elsewhere, your HV battery health is 95%.

My MME GT PE was purchased as a 2023 model in October 2024 [price discounted from NZ$117,000 to $65,000] I can't see the build date on the B pillar that others have said was there There is a Ford sticker with the s/n 3FMTR4SX9PMA50807. I presume the car was built in Mexico [not China] and I am interested to know the build date and anything else that the s/n shows up. Cheers from Auckland NZ.
