The 2025 frunk is roughly 40% smaller than the 2024 frunk. ??

While the 2024 frunk is slightly different from the 2021 frunk, this is a photo of my 2021’s frunk. Definitely cannot do that with a 2025. I have done similar in the 2024. ??

Yeah, their new heat pump system was designed by soviet scientist to make it do what is needs to do, even if it takes the whole cabin space. Tesla is the king of EVs and the other morons are not even trying.

If I'm taking a nice weekend leisurely drive, it certain isn't in an appliance like the Mach-E or Model Y. I'm 100% driving some fun like the Bronco.
Yeah the Bronco, pure fun like driving not an appliance, but a tractor or a Lada.

My wife bought a 2025 Model 3 RWD LR a month ago and I drive it occasionally.

Here are the things the Model 3 has that I really want on my Mach-E (in priority order):
  • FSD v13 - seriously it used to be a joke, but v13 is actually better than BC 1.0/1.2/1.3/1.4 and we are amazed that 99% of the time it does what I would have done driving manually. My wife doesn't want to use it herself, but she likes it when I use it. She says it drives better than me and better than BC 1.3. We have a 3 month trial and I expect I'll purchase it when the trial runs out (either 1 time purchase or purchase a month at a time when I need it).
  • Autopark - having the parking spots show up in the visualization and you just press the one you want to park in and then press a Start button is perfect!
  • Responsive touchscreen - the Mach-E is so bad that as much as I love my Mach-E and want to upgrade to a newer model year, I refuse until they fix this.
  • Rear heated seats - for my daughter
  • Ventilated front seats - for my long trips (have had in other cars and useful in Texas)

Here are the things the Mach-E has that I really want on the Model 3 (in priority order):
  • Android Auto - seriously how does Tesla not have this? It is so useful to have the same touchscreen infotainment experience in every car that I won't buy a Tesla for myself until Tesla adds this
  • Audio stops when door opens - the Tesla just keeps playing audio while I exit the car. Why does it not just stop? You can't really tell where your audio is going to start back up when you get back in a Tesla. Very annoying.
  • Comfortable seats - I find the Mach-E seats just about perfect for short or long drives.
  • Edit: Turn signal stalk - the turn signal buttons are okay but not as nice as a stalk to me.

As I was driving to work this morning I was thinking how much I would love for Ford to license FSD for use on the Mach-E. The fact that it works so well now is something that will be hard to ignore when I replace my current Mach-E. A Mach-E with responsive touchscreen, FSD v13, and Autopark would be a perfect vehicle for me (even without the rear heated and front ventilated seats).

I can feel the hate coming my way, but here it is anyway.
Where do I start? Not in order of importance:
  • AC and Accessories On once you open the door or someone just sits inside the car.
  • Unlimited user profiles
  • Dog Mode
  • Camp Mode
  • Real Keep On Mode
  • Reliable Phone As A Key
  • Fully running and drivable car from the phone in case PAAK fails(which it does fail all the time).
  • Useful and FREE autopilot (not that expensive BlueCruise garbage)
  • Simpler and with better responsiveness user interface
  • Nice graphics in UI, not those half-assed rectangles that look they were drawn on Paint on Windows 3.1
  • Better Audio system as the B&O "Premium" garbage system is no match for even Tesla's Non-Premium Audio System.
  • Less reliance on legacy ICE systems and routines that don't apply at all to an EV. (Car shutoff when Frunk is opened, for instance)
  • Less noticeable automatic brake system use when coming to a full stop. More seamless one pedal use.
  • Longer, with adjustable height arm rest.(Tesla does not have it adjustable, but it is by default at a higher position)
  • Electric, automatic steering wheel positioning adjustment based on user profile.
  • If you are going to add a dashboard display then a Better position for it is needed as steering wheel gets in the line of sight constantly. Also give more customizations options to it.
  • More trunk capacity
  • Trunk second compartment below main trunk. (Tesla's is huge)
  • LESS CHIMES!! WTF? Ford.
  • Less false annoying audible warnings of "Watch the Road" or "Grab the Steering Wheel". This makes moot the whole point of the system which is reducing stress while increasing safety. I just turned it off, because I can't stand it. If I die, I will die happy and with no rage while at it.
  • It needs an actually useful wireless charger that doesn't overheat the phone.
  • If they are going to give us Android Auto make it customizable and better laid out. I don't need to see the weather my whole drive. (I know Tesla does not have AA, but just a something worth mentioning)
  • Dashcam.
  • Simple way of managing charging target point. The by location non-sense is absurd to say the least.
  • NO MORE DEALERS.
  • NO MORE DEALERS.
  • NO MORE DEALERS.
  • AN EV DOESN'T NEED A 10K, 20K SERVICE, ETC. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER STEALERSHIP MONEYGRAB SCHEME
There are many more things I can think of, but that is it for now.
I’d say it sounds like the car you want is available today! Just stop by your friendly Tesla dealer and pick one up.

Thank you - This could be an issue for me. I'd accepted the use of a roof rack for my cross Europe trips, but was relying on the frunk locally. Although i'm not sure anything else comes close. Even at 40% reduction it is probably still bigger then rivals (in the UK). I need the R2 to start shipping ASAP

My experiences with 2 years of Model Y ownership. I bet the wipers work on the Mach E

I can feel the hate coming my way, but here it is anyway.
Where do I start? Not in order of importance:
  • AC and Accessories On once you open the door or someone just sits inside the car.
  • Unlimited user profiles
  • Dog Mode - Personally I don't use this as it draws attention to there being a dog in the car
  • Camp Mode - Very useful will miss not having this or something similar
  • Real Keep On Mode
  • Reliable Phone As A Key - great until an OTA update knackers it (happened 4 times in 2 years)
  • Fully running and drivable car from the phone in case PAAK fails(which it does fail all the time).
  • Useful and FREE autopilot (not that expensive BlueCruise garbage) - I experience Constant phantom braking

  • More trunk capacity - agreed this is a winner on the MY and will be missed if I get a mach E
  • Trunk second compartment below main trunk. (Tesla's is huge)- agreed this is a winner on the MY
  • LESS CHIMES!! WTF? Ford. - The MY constantly chimes for no reason
  • Less false annoying audible warnings of "Watch the Road" or "Grab the Steering Wheel". This makes moot the whole point of the system which is reducing stress while increasing safety. I just turned it off, because I can't stand it. If I die, I will die happy and with no rage while at it. - The MY constantly warns for things not there
  • It needs an actually useful wireless charger that doesn't overheat the phone. - I have zero issues on the MY with my android, but lots of Apple owners complain they over heat in the MY. Is this the same issue in the MachE
  • If they are going to give us Android Auto make it customizable and better laid out. I don't need to see the weather my whole drive. (I know Tesla does not have AA, but just a something worth mentioning)
  • Dashcam. - yes agree this is great in the MY and will be missed if I get a mach E
  • Simple way of managing charging target point. The by location non-sense is absurd to say the least.
  • NO MORE DEALERS. - Anything has to be better then my local Tesla service centre. The only "dealership" to ever tell me (and I quote) "all cars fall apart once driven on the road"
  • NO MORE DEALERS.
  • NO MORE DEALERS.
  • AN EV DOESN'T NEED A 10K, 20K SERVICE, ETC. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER STEALERSHIP MONEYGRAB SCHEME

THIS!!!! The rain sensing wipers in a Tesla are hot garbage. Lived with that junk for 3.5 years. Rain? Maybe wipes. Random cloud? Wipes. Overpass? Wipes. Tree shadows? Wipes. Guess what works better than camera based rain sensing. A $5 moisture sensor like every other car manufacturer uses. That and Autopilot stopping adaptive cruise when driving into the sun. Love it when 1/2 of my commutes lose adaptive during the fall and winter. Guess what works regardless of sun position? Radar, Elon. Radar. Oh but you know better than everyone, right?

And the auto wipers are required when you use cruise/Autopilot. If you want cruise control, you must accept phantom wipes. Don't like phantom wipes, no cruise control for you?

You technically do have dog mode in the Mach-E (start car; turn off auto-shutoff; use Sketch to write "don't smash my windows plz"; use keypad to lock doors). Admittedly not a one-button click, but it's there.

I agree, it happened once in four years in my case. But then again, you can turn on and drive the car away with just the phone app. It is not that you will be stranded in the middle of nowhere if you forgot your master password. You currently can't do that in the Mach-E.
Overall of the things I mentioned, I want to clarify that the Tesla is far from perfect, but as an EV, is a car that is far ahead the others in the aspects that matter, in my opinion. The Mach-e feels better built, but the effort really didn't go evenly to all the aspects that would have made the Mach-E an stellar car. The Chinese and their EVs are a sharp contrast of what Ford is lacking in the effort of successfully competing against Tesla.

Exactly my thoughts. Technology wise(software) a bit of parity with the Tesla would make the Mach-E an amazing car.

I understand how heat pumps work, they operate in an automotive sense in a very limited range of temps (roughly 20-50 degrees).

Otherwise it's resistive heat.

For the number of days that are within that window, I'll keep my range loss and bigger frunk.
The Tesla heat pump system can pull heat from more than just ambient air. There are many things in the car that generate heat and must be cooled, such as motors, inverters, HVAC blower motor, AC compressor motor, etc. The heat pump pulls heat from all of those and pushed it into the cabin.

More info at Understanding Tesla's Heat Pump System

Not the topic of this thread, but I test drove an EV9 on Christmas. I didn't get it because the numbers didn't work. They offered me $25k for my premium awd er 2022, while Ford itself offered $21k as I was considering upgrading to a GT. I couldn't test much because of the very short test drive.
What I liked on the EV9:

The overall tech is better, no doubt. Snappy touchscreen, manual battery preconditioning, center rear view mirror is a screen, instrument cluster, front motor clutch disconnect (improves efficiency by 8% on highways), vehicle to load (110v 15amp), 4.5s 0-60 on the gt-line awd 800 voltage architecture with a great charging curve. Second row has heated seats and front has ventilated seats. It can tow small stuff. Ambient lighting is great. The seats are amazing. Space in 2nd and 3rd rows are meant for adults. You can adjust the regen levels, which is a great feature. Range is slightly higher than the mach-e, and with the good charging performance, I would have zero problems taking this on a road trip.

What I don't like:
Not kia's fault, but you feel the weight when you drive, even compared to the mach-e (which has a lot of body roll). Not an agile car, but it's a family hauler.
The software is pretty bad, not intuitive at all. But at least it's fast.
Route planning is laughable.
ADAS is much inferior to BC1.3. And no hands-free.
One pedal driving doesn't bring the car to a full stop. I don't get this at all.
No single panel glass roof. But the front panel is a sunroof that opens.

I will wait another year to trade. My negative equity is still too high, and I still like the mach-e. Next year we will have the Ioniq9, gravity, maybe R2S. With these second generation evs, the mach-e needs a major refresh to stay competitive.
