Here's the list of available software for your VIN in FDRS:

You have no OTAs pending...not sure why that is...you obviously have a gateway update that could get applied....which in turn would lead to a Sync (APIM) update, and then ultimately a TCU (telematics modem) update to complete the trilogy.....again, not sure why this isn't happening.

Could someone please look at the service/repair history for my VIN: 3FMTK3SU7NMA02160

It was branded as a lemon or buyback in California and was reacquired by Ford with 62,899k miles. I’m curious to know what repairs were actually made to it beyond what I see on CarFax:
  • 2x elec
  • 2x battery
  • 1x HVAC
  • 1x software
  • 1x engine

I am wondering if you can check 3FMTK3SU5NMA01640? The issue I have is that 6.13 update was installed in Sept 2024. FordPAss app shows that update was installed successfully. In the vehicle, it shows 6.13 update not complete.

September was too far back. The only thing you have in the OTA queue or history right now is a BCM update (that's listed twice for some reason). It says a trigger was created on the 8th and will expire on the 15th. This same BCM update was sent previously and did expire on the 3rd of January without installing. The BCM OTA that tried to install and is again waiting to get activated is "24-PU0121-FTDI-FX".

You might try hitting the Check Updates button while you're out driving (at a stoplight or while not in motion) to see if it will start downloading. The OTA dashboard says to "See HMI" in the vehicle for whether you have automatic updates and a recurring schedule set...so apparently the system can't tell whether you have those turned on or not.

Here's the list of available software updates showing in FDRS for your VIN:

The note at the bottom means that if a tech were to update your gateway (GWM) then an APIM would become available....after the APIM gets updated a TCU would become available.

I never understood why people think OTAs are not downloaded over WiFi. I've seen my own network show that the larger ones do download on WiFi. In the first 2 years of my Job 1 car, I would see the big download occur, hopped immediately in my car, and the OTA went to work. Well before the public charging or other apps that would even begin to reach large file sizes.

That said…

I think there's an validation step that only uses the cell network in order to initiate, hence the "doesn't work on WiFi" conclusion. The bulk of the download occurs on best Internet connection available, but initiation of the OTA seems to require with a working cell connection. So even with a great WiFi connection, bad cell reception prevents the start of an OTA.

Do I know 100%? No. But the evidence on my Job 1 car doesn't support the other way around. ??‍♂
6.2.1 is retrying on my car now, I noticed while driving home.

It has connected to the wifi now and is downloading over it.

But I think it needed cellular as you say, to begin.

Start with the USB-based updates first, (IPC, GWM, APIM) then do the powertrain updates (PCM, SOBDMB, SOBDMC). ACM is up to you if you want to do it or not, if your radio is working fine then it's optional.

Nope. Should be available using FDRS and a USB drive. On some vehicles, the IPC update is a two-part...first part is USB and second part is CANbus. Not sure if this is the case with this particular update or not.

I talked about the TCU provisioning at length and didn't mention your available update list.

This car has been out of contact so long that there are a shed-load of updates that it's missed.

Whoever your tech is, make sure they start with every one of the updates in the note at the bottom of the available software list (Additional Updates) before doing anything else. This is to avoid any software dependency issues later on. Those updates listed in the note at the bottom will take about a day all by themselves, assuming a good steady internet connection and a 64GB USB 3.1/3.2 thumb drive.

3FMTK1SS1MMA49671-6-Jan-25.webp
Further to this, the vehicle spent two days at the dealer for installing updates. Eventually, they informed me that they installed all updates related to the GWM, APIM, and BCM modules (could you please check if they actually did all of them?)

They would charge me extra for any additional updates, so I’m wondering if any of the remaining updates are critical or provide a significant value?
Keep in mind that I don’t have TCU connectivity and can’t use BlueCruise (it’s a US car imported to Israel). On the other hand, the vehicle hasn’t been updated for three years.

One last question: now that the main modules have been updated, should I be able to receive OTA updates through Wi-Fi? Or is a connected cellular network still required?

Apologies for the many questions and thanks again for your kind responses!

Not sure what's meant by the "main modules"......they did gateway and one APIM update and a BCM (body controller) update.

You will not be able to get OTAs just over Wi-Fi...it takes the car's TCU to initiate the process. So if they aren't willing to try and "re-Provision" your TCU then you're stuck with a tech doing all these update or getting the gear and a license and doing them yourself. Sounds like that may be the cheaper option.
