Can I have a guesstimate on how long the outstanding modules should take? I've bitten the bullet and got a Mongoose cable on the way and just need to find a power supply before taking FDRS a whirl :D

Hi Mike,

I’m quite pleased to have got as far as I have, as it has given me a working wireless charger, and battery info in CarPlay. I gave the garage another push and this time they insisted that there were no more update visible to them. Is there a reason that they cannot see the updates? Are they for US only or tied to the VIN? They tell me that anything else should update OTA. Interestingly I have just received power-up 4.2.4 OTA which appears to be background stuff. Do I need to keep pushing or should everything slowly sync now?

Thanks,

Chuck
The PowerUp 4.2.4 you got on the 17th was the TCU update...it is kindof background as you say, but important.

You have nothing else in the pipeline as of today, but that could change next week. You do have a new gateway update showing in FDRS that after applied (FDRS or OTA) would then be followed eventually by an APIM (another Sync update) and then further another TCU update. That's the normal cycle by the way, GWM, APIM, TCU. However, there have been instances of two gateway updates back-to-back in the past...just to keep us on our toes.

I agree with your shop.... these things should come as OTAs....the problem is they quite often don't.

Start with the TCU. That's a USB-based update and is one of the 4 updates that should always be done before doing anything else (GWM, APIM, TCU, IPC... if any of those appear in your list, do them first). Even when the list refreshes after doing another update...if any of those pop up, do them next before doing anything else. TCU should take about 30 minutes due to the shutdown/sleep/reboot of the car after doing the update.

Then the powertrain:
Powertrain (PCM. ABS, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMB, SOBDMC) will take you about 20-25 minutes sitting in the car and monitoring what's going on. It's a series of individual updates, all scripted to be done in a sequence determined by the script. You start off selecting the PCM, and it steps through everything. You just turn on and off the start button when told and monitor your voltage in the lower right corner of the screen.

The longest series of things you'll have are the cruise-control related updates and they should be done in the sequence CCM, SCCM, CMR, IPMA/PSCM are scripted together as a pair. The IPMA alone takes 2.5hrs with a Mongoose.

None of the rest of the updates takes very long (DSP, WACM, BCM, DSM, HVAC, GSM) normally in the 2-10 minute range.

Good morning.

Your 12V battery is reporting a SOC of 70%, but the voltage is 13.6V. That's not right. I recommend you perform the BMS Learned Values reset dance before driving the next time to see if that can be aligned a bit better.

Here's how you do that:

Without pressing the brake pedal, press the start button to put the vehicle in Accessory mode.

With your foot off the brake, flash the high beams with the stalk 5 times, and then depress and release the brake pedal 3 times, and observe the small red battery icon in the instrument cluster flash three times to acknowledge.

Press the start button to shut the vehicle off.

Start the vehicle and go out for a drive to completely charge the battery up.

I'm not sure the Fordpass climate settings availability have anything to do with a vehicle update. I haven't heard that. If a Ford source said that, I'd be interested in what they think needs to be updated.

You have no OTAs in the queue at this point, and none have been sent in the last 60 days, probably because the car is so new.

Here's the list of available software updates in FDRS:

Huge thanks, especially for the detailed reply and info on the battery side, pulled it to charge up to full and will the run the reset procedure.

And no sourcing from ford on the climate setting thing, so could absolutely just be a server side switch I'm waiting to get flipped.

Well you haven't gotten an OTA since then maybe....but your dealer tech did update a few things when they did both your 23B50 and the 23S56 (HVJB) recalls last fall.

You do have a current DTC that is set for the CMR (iNanny cam) and the SSM for that would get your CMR updated under warranty...which may actually break loose the IPMA/PSCM OTA update that would enable you to use that BC 1.3 Hands-Free subscription you paid for. They might even throw in the IPMA/PSCM update as a bonus while updating your CMR, who knows? I guess the point is that until that CMR gets updated..you aren't getting the IPMA/PSCM updates as OTAs until that's done because of software dependencies.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for running this for me. What are my options here? Do I have to go to the dealer to get it fixed? Will an OTA update eventually come through on its own?
Thanks again,
Darryl

They are apparently looking at dropping the battery pack to replace the HVJB. At least that's what the tech looked up.

Here's your list of available software this afternoon. I don't think anything's changed.
3FMTK4SX2NMA64551-17-Jan-25.webp

PTS does show a list of all the modules and the revision of the software...and yes it does show some dates that say it was the last time it was updated. But that's not strictly true. It's the last time that module was "touched" by the system, and not necessarily the last time it received an update, despite what the column descriptions say to the contrary. So I'm not sure how useful that would be. I can try to get that together tomorrow if you really need it.
Thank you so much, you're a godsend.
Interesting that the tech was looking at the HVJB, I never mentioned any symptoms and I have a standard range.

Based on the images that you gave me I was able to determine which modules were updated (by comparing the Software Part No.)[is this a reliable method?].
Looked like a good amount of modules were updated, but not all, and some modules that were updated still show that they have updates available based on the Toolbox Network Test results.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Post here if you have an active FDRS account and are willing to look up info for others Screenshot 2025-01-20 225140

Of the available updates, I would think the GWM would be a high priority as the whole reason I started going down this path is because I was not receiving updates as well as the GWM being stuck on the ...'LKB' software version.
The SA told me (via text) they installed the APIM update.

So my question is:
-Is the Toolbox Network Test results 'Software updates available' accurate (are they truly currently available)?
- If so, which Modules should I push to have updated?
-Are you able to tell if the APIM was updated?

Please do note my car will be out of warranty after this so it's a last opportunity to get this done.

Hello again Mike

I delivered car Mach E GT 2023 to the dealership for updates on Friday 17. January. I was wondering if you could be so kind and check which updates they did and if there are still some important updates which they didn’t do.
I appreciate your work. Thank you very much
