All that said, other than the set speed, what are the most economical settings to drive in such as engage, whisper, etc, and with or without 1pd on or off?

Coasting is more efficient than regen. So whisper.

Ford has said that the modes have equal efficiency. But they way you get there in each mode may be different. In Whisper, you may coast by taking your foot off the accelerator. In Unbridled, you would have to find the spot in the accelerator travel that produces the same coast experience. Coasting is far better than regen on the highway, but regen is much better in the city if you have to stop anyway. The most efficient driving avoids hammering on the accelerator or the brake.

That depends on how you drive it. (A statement like that imples you're thinking that if you're on the freeway and want to coast you can't. This is incorrect.)

In 1-P mode the throttle maps to regen (say 20%) to 0 to 100% power. Once you find the 0% spot you know it so when you want to coast you still can coast. If you want to slow slightly just lift up a little. Its very intuitive once you get the hang of it.

Thus in 1-P mode if you want to coast you can still coast; you only end up using regen to truly slow down.

Of course you can always simply turn off 1-P then you'll always coast with feet off the pedals.

Of course @generaltso basically said the same thing in the prior post to this one.

Yes the answer is to drive gently.

I know we’ve discussed this before, but I don’t think that‘s true. My interpretation of what Ford has said is that every mode has some level of regen when your foot’s off the pedal. Unbridled is the strongest and Whisper is the weakest. I guess we’ll just have to try it. Of course, I’m not even sure if there’s a screen in the MME that shows when you regen in real-time. So if the regen is slight, will we even know? We’ll see what the brake coach can tell us.

Interesting thought.

My interpretation would be that with 1-P off the car drives like an ICE. Thus you get creep and coasting. The amount of regen used with 1-P off would be the amount kicked in when you press the brake pedal.

Yup: We'll find out soon enough ;)

Never understood why 1PD is seen as so efficient compared to coasting, given the inefficiencies in recapturing energy. I suppose if someone was using their brake pedal a lot without 1PD they were probably sticking on the accelerator too long to begin with.

I think this view comes from the fact that Tesla's don't regen when you use the brake pedal. Thus putting them in 1-P mode you get some energy back vs using the brake pedal.

On other EV's with a blended brake 1-P mode is more for convienence than efficiency since it is probably equal in terms of efficiency.

Remember the days when you could just get in the car, turn it on, and then instantly drive away without thinking of how to set, forget and drive it? Seems like a lot of work all of a sudden...

Whats nice is we have these options, if you want you can just get an drive. If you want to be super efficient then you can use 1 pedal and the other options.

Probably better at higher EPA ratings.

Once you find the settings configuration you like you leave it there. Then its get in it and drive away.

About 99.9% of all the stuff everyone is discussing on the forums here will be played with and decided on in the first week or so. Then we'll all just be happily driving our cars around and not fiddling with a thing. Some of the settings make it easier to just get in and drive away as the car is ready and waiting for you like an excited puppy (preconditioning schedule, charge schedule, charge locations, etc.).

Unless, of course, you're a fiddler and like to mess around...
