It's kind of a hidden setting to tell Google Maps in Android Auto that you have a NACS adapter so that it will route to NACS chargers, so here is a guide for how to do that. Note that this is separate from the Your Vehicles setting in Google Maps on a smartphone. Even if you've set the Your Plugs setting to show that you have NACS, that will not apply to Android Auto routing. Here is how to enable it for Android Auto:

1. In Google Maps in Android Auto, start navigating to a destination far enough away to automatically add a charger.
2. Tap the pin icon to bring up the Route Details screen.
3. In the Route Details screen, tap the charger destination.

4. In the destination screen, tap the Replace button.

5. A list of chargers will appear. Tap the Filters icon.

6. Tap the Compatible Plugs list in the Filters screen.

7. The Compatible Plugs screen shows the two plugs type the car always supports, and has a toggle for whether you have a NACS adapter. Tap this toggle.

After you follow these steps, your car will now include NACS chargers in routing suggestions. And remember, when routing to DCFC stations in Android Auto, including NACS ones, the car will precondition now since version 10.1.0. Hope this helps!

Thanks for this!!! 2 questions: do you find Google maps preferable to the native routing app (i guess the ford routing still can't include "non-magic" Tesla chargers,) and second is this change persistent or do you need to do this each time you want to route somewhere that will require charging?

I definitely prefer the Google routing when my other Mach E was updated, the one I have now doesn't show the arrival battery % anymore ...

So my other question - is this setting persistent?

I definitely prefer using Android Auto at all times. Admittedly, I haven't used the native navigation more than once to see what it was like, but I'm happy enough with the quality of Google Maps and the native navigation is a paid feature with a free trial that I don't want to pay for. One of the things that sold me on the Mach E is that it has the best implementation of Android Auto I've ever seen. And yes, as others have said, the setting is persistent.

I found a faster way to get to the filter settings. Just say “navigate to charging station”. The filter button will be there at the top left.

This worked for me. The other method wasn't getting me anywhere (no pun intended). Tapping the pin did nothing. I could get to Settings, but charging capabilities weren't there.

Thanks @ChrisO!
