Today, I stopped by my Ford dealer for state inspection and, while there, asked if they had gotten any 2025 Mustang Mach Es in yet. They JUST received their first one - a Select. I asked if I could see the frunk.

As has been reported, the frunk is significantly smaller. The traditional frunk is between 14” and 15” from the bottom to the top lip of the tub. The new frunk is, perhaps 6” deep. It’s also not as wide or as long. You are no longer going to be able to fit 3-4 bags of groceries. Frankly, you will not fit any bags of groceries in the mini-frunk. If I upgrade my car (and they were pushing HARD for me to upgrade, on the spot, showing me the GTs they have coming in), the loss of the frunk will be a huge negative. To be honest, I’m not sure what value the mini-frunk offers. Maybe you can toss smelly workout clothes or sneakers in there? Not much else though.

Other very quick thoughts:
- The updated IP graphics are very nice. I didn’t see any significant graphics updates on the Sync screen.
- The new super-mega-multi-stalk (or whatever it’s called) will take getting used to. It has inner rings that twist and turn, the outer end twists and turns - I’m sure I’d be blinding people with the high beams every time I go to wash the windshield. By comparison, the gear selector lever looks barren. Maybe it has hidden abilities Ford will unlock later.
- The fob does indeed have a frunk button now! (Of course, that functionality is pretty useless!)

Wow, I didn't think it lost that much depth. I thought I remembered reading it was a 40% loss of volume. If it's only 6" deep, we'll lose more than 50% of the frunk volume (maybe the loss was calculated including the chamber under the frunk lid as well, so 40% loss might make sense). ?‍♂?

Hopefully the key works on the same frequency as prior years MMEs and the 2025 key will become a resource for those who haven't bought bastardized F150 Lightning keys (Mustang battery cover, liftgate button in place of a tailgate button). ??

Good place for a portable charge cord and a J3400 adapter. Beyond that it's enough room for smelly shoes/boots or your dead fish.

That left stalk is a slight upgrade of the one I have in my Lightning Lariat. While it takes a bit of getting used to it handles all the functions quite well.

I don’t use the frunk in my Tesla and I wouldn’t have used the frunk in my upcoming 25 MME even if it was bigger. I put the charge cord in there and a jump pack and never touch it. If it was powered maybe, but I don’t like pushing down on dirty paint and leaving handprints etc. Also the Tesla hood feels extremely flimsy like it will dent if you push too hard to close it ?.

In contrast we use the frunk in our Lightning a ton because it’s actually large enough to be very useful and it’s powered.

If it will hold smelly chinese takeout or a couple large pizzas, it's still worth having.

Wait, did you just call my Mach-E / Lightning key fob a bastard!? It's very sensitive little fella. I even had a nice leather jacket crafted for him to keep his wittle battery warm in the winter.?

Probably similar to our Raptor’s stalk. And yes, its easy to inadvertently trigger something you weren’t intending to turn on.

I do wish to stress that I didn’t have a ruler with me at the dealer (I obviously measured my own frunk, so those dimensions are accurate). I could have underestimated by an inch or two. It really isn’t much more than a shallow drawer.

I would disagree on the large pizza, unless you put the box in on the diagonal, or pre-fold your pizza before you get home.
I agree that it would hold some take out containers.
