Anyone know if the $250 EV penalty made it into the final version of the BB bill?

I kinda doubt that but, anything is possible. After all, we are all a bunch of strangers trying to understand our fellow forum members by a few written words.
No, the detector is definitely off kilter in this case. ;)

I read/heard somewhere that Trump promised some the House members that he would issue an executive order ending the EV and clean energy tax credits on 9/30/2025. Some House members were upset the Senate pushed the EV tax credit out to 2026 and the clean energy tax credits out to 2027.
That does not sound right. As far as I can tell, 9/30/25 is the expiration date stated in the bill. And an executive order can not amend a statute that has been passed by Congress and signed by the President.

You're right, I didn't notice they had modified it again.

A statute was passed by Congress and signed by the the President that funded USAID and Trump defunded it by executive order and now it doesn't exist.

Right is not the word I’d use to describe any actions by the current group in D.C. ;)

Well, I just got an email from DOGE informing me that my MME is scheduled for repo this coming Monday. Apparently they slipped a provision in the final bill that all EVs will be seized and disposed of in the most environmentally unfriendly way possible: a massive bonfire. Even worse than what all those “progressives” did to the Teslas. Speaking of Tesla, apparently Elon is being deported now??? (He’s our hero again now, btw.) I mean, the bill doesn’t call him out by name but says that anybody from South Africa with at least 15 kids and a rocket company is subject to immediate deportation, so I’m just reading between the lines. As for the public chargers, they’ll henceforth be repurposed as public urinals. Seems excessive. Sad face.

This is the content that the internet was made for. Made my day!

Last I read, the $250 annual fee for BEvs was not in the version the senate passed and they the house voted on. The EV tax credit is set to expire on 9/30/2025 in that bill.
That's nice, but I still have a N. Texas $200 annual fee for EVs. Need to email my representative again...

Nah, I don't think so, that was some serious whining going on there, actually pretty easy to discern. ? I am on 3 other automotive forums and this one absolutely takes the cake for political whining, complaining and just general hurt feelings, in my opinion.

You got that right! I was watching a Dave Ramsey segment on You tube and he stated that a big takeaway he had from social media is that a good chunk of our society is made up of morons who are dumb as a box of rocks!

It just went f ty on $75 per year, which was just a tad too low, to $250 per year out in Hawaii. I don’t know about Texas, but at least here it gets sent to the state highway fund.

Using our 2006 Tacoma, and it’s 17 mpg, at 10,000 miles a year in this rural part of Hawaii I’d pay $94 to the state in gas tax. The County would get another $135 in gas tax money. The new state law does not share the $250 with any of the 5 counties.

I pay more than that. It sounds like most of the USA pays some kind of state EV fee.

Right. That’s how it should work, … if Congress did their job. However, …

How about the bipartisan bill that banned TikTok for national security reasons only this January? The president decided to sign an executive order suspending the ban on day one in office. It’s still suspended - for national security reasons. Documents just released by a FOIA request shows how the AG just made up some BS and exempted everyone from any prosecution in regards to the now suspended ban - just like Congress intended.
