Removing the beauty covers in the frunk accommodates this. 😜

Is Ford teaming up with Genesis? The new logo looks like it, plus a subtle hint to investors built in.
The logo is based on the Model T logo!

Announcing a plan to have a plan for a competitive lineup, like I feared in the other main thread on this.

Oh! I did not know, thanks. Here's more info I found on https://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/50893/55124.html?1210250452:

Ford Mustang Mach-E Ford Universal EV Platform Announced: Innovation Meets Efficiency in New EV Platform, Assembly Process and Midsize Truck 1754925241161-yk

1912 - The Universal Car.
For a brief time, Ford did move away from the oval design and used a winged triangle design on their cars. Originally designed to symbolise speed, lightness, grace and stability, the logo was produced in orange or dark blue and carried the words "The Universal Car". Henry Ford disliked the design and it was swiftly discontinued.

Really would love to see more of a road map for where Ford sees the platform going. The teaser of a mid-sized truck sounds nice, but everyone is doing a truck or an SUV. We need to see an affordable coupe or sedan. 🤔🐩
Agreed! Or a hot hatch/hatchback in small and/or medium sized body styles. To be honest that is what our Mach-e's are as much as Ford insists on calling them SUVs.

Sounds exciting and i'm keen to know more about the new platform's specs such as battery capacities and motors. Will it have V2X and more advanced BlueCruise? I gotta wonder how the new software is going to be. Please tell me that we're going to keep some regular buttons and switches and not go the full touchscreen route.
Can't share much on specs today, but here's a little more info.

The platform can have BlueCruise capability, but will not evolve to L3 eyes-off autonomy.

The vehicle will have bi-directional capabilities, but we are not sharing specifics today.

Here in Florida, “small” and truck” don’t seem to go together🤷‍♂️.
The number one selling vehicle in the state of Hawaii is the Toyota Tacoma. This has been the case for well over a decade, probably closer to 2 decades. And not by a small margin. After that, truckwise anyway, there's the F150, then everything else. There are a handful of mobile dumpsters driving around here, though.

The question about longboard or shortboard was not entirely tongue-in-cheek. The answer tells me how long the bed is (or can be), and that determines if it's a viable candidate to replace our soon to be 20 year old Tacoma.

Also glad to hear about a mid-size truck, though I hope it is on the smaller end of mid-size.
It will be comparable in footprint to a Maverick. However, an electric vehicle enables more interior space for the same exterior profile and this truck is a clean-sheet design.

Any word on what they are going to do with the nearly finished Blue oval city plant in Stanton, TN?

I know this isn’t in your control, but I think we all wish this event had been the reveal of the Ranchero EV.

No consumer cares about the production line—that should have been a presentation to investors in a quarterly report.

I like the idea of an updated platform, and of refined manufacturing processes, especially the subassembly kitting and relying on more common components. EVs are theoretically simpler to build, but reliance on ICE components and processes haven't let that fully materialize.

Also glad to hear about a mid-size truck, though I hope it is on the smaller end of mid-size. I'm going to keep limping this '97 Tacoma along until someone makes a worthy EV competitor. Real question is whether an option will be available before I break 300k miles..!
And will it come with one bed size or two options?
