After reading some of the other posts it does indeed seem that the "software fix" is simply an anti-brick that will allow you to drive your MME safely to the shop. Reduces power to 33% and issues a warning to have vehicle serviced. This is NOT a fix, simply a way to continue driving the vehicle until it can be actually be fixed. By using words like "some" it also keeps their original statement about the recall 100% accurate by delivering on what they promised. It also leads me to believe that the updated software will do nothing to diminish power/DCFC rates OR stop the contactors from overheating in the first place. It will literally just keep doing everything as normal UNTIL they overheat and trigger the warning AND THEN will diminish power so you can "safely" drive it to the shop and have the hardware fixed, which is the root of the problem in the first place. Well done, Ford, well done!
A 1% failure rate is concerning. Ford should send enough replacement parts over the next few months to have hardware replacements ready if/when needed.

I drove an ICE car last week while traveling and I don't want to go back. I did a road trip last weekend with the Mach-E and had to DC fast charge for the first time since the recall. This issue was in the back of my mind on the road trip. It was pretty hot out, but there were no issues.

I really LOVE everything else about the Mach-E. Every time I drive it I am like, "man this is a cool car". The Bluecruse makes long drives a breeze. The sound system is good. The handling, the comfort, everything about it lives up. Recalls suck, but Ford does need to prepare as the failure rate creeps up an more people may need a physical replacement part on these models. They have some time, but the software patch sounds like it is only going to buy them SOME additional time.

Auto body shop confirmed minimal damage. Some very fine surface scratches were able to be buffed out, and the black part of the bumper is being repainted. A couple of rivets (maybe) to replace, which are in stock, and that is it. No other damage to Sally. I should have her back this week.

I have an ICE car as a rental and I very much do not enjoy it at all.
The story continues…I got a call from the auto body shop this morning to let me know 7 of their employees called out sick with Covid, which included ALL of the painting department! Sally’s bumper is in paint and likely would have been out back on today or tomorrow ?

Quick update: Was able to get Snowspeeder into one of the local dealers and they did the software update. Made it in and out in just under an hour.

Call them first... my nearest dealership said that they "hadn't received the software from Ford" yet and seemed clueless. The other dealer had no issues and had already performed the update for a few customers.

It is official: There is an ice white 4X in the garage and connected to the Chargepoint tonight. (And, yes, I was totally test driving and doing paperwork when @FrostyICE posted!)
We are awaiting your photo finish @Shenred ! Then we can complete the 4/4 build week collage!

Clicking through different buttons and found this. Ummmm? isn't this a BIT high? And this is resting. Thinking to lower it to 39. Any advice/objections? And to think, I've been driving 1k miles on this? Going in Monday to get "the bandaid" recall update

I did not get her back in time for my trip to Arizona. She is getting the final fixes this week because the shop missed one area of minor damage that needs to be fixed. I expect to have her back on Monday.

Was that from cold tires, or after it’s been driven a while? If it’s on warm or hot tires, it’s probably good. If that’s cold from the garage first thing in the morning, then it could be lowered a bit, but my (trusted) tire people usually recommend going about 2-3 pounds over anyway.

Here we go! The 4/4/22 Build week Photo Finish Collage! Thanks to all who participated in this WILD ride!

My project (2).jpg
Awesome job! We are definitely a lucky week; Many who ordered in Oct 2021 are stuck in KC.
