It appears this new 3-row will be more about aero, will be interesting to see what the end result will be (read: good looking or will it look like an egg or a wedge), I imagine we'll see something within the next 6-12 months.
Well you can already get a preview of the overall shape as it is the vehicle that is under the cover

All the rumors rumbling around this are that the looks are somewhat of an acquired taste, with it originally going to be be more of a conventional 3 row suv shape and that got dropped for going down the aero route.

I will reserve judgement until the cover comes off, but you can see why ' bullet train suv' is used just from the silhouette only time will tell if your typical 3 row SUV buyer it going to go for a shape like that vs a more conventional shaped one that uses a larger battery to get a similar range.

How can you tell?
If you can't see from the silhouette that it looks more like a giant prius than a traditional 3 row suv, then you will just have to wait for when it finally gets revealed.

Now there is nothing wrong with going down the aero route however it could be argued that the practical 3 row suv that has a usable adult seating in all rows and storage are boxy for a reason.

I mean, how can you tell that the prius looking concept under the cover is the 3-row SUV that Farley was talking about?

It’s because minivans are ugly and uncool.

They are cheaper than SUVs, drive better,
more storage, more comfortable, easier to get on and out………..

But I can’t even convince my mom friends to buy one.

They tell me exactly what they’re looking for in a vehicle, and they describe a minivan. I suggest a minivan and they say “hell no!”
We've had four Minivans, the look of the new Sienna eliminated that option. Kia is to Small and the Hondas never really looked that good to us. The VW ID BUZZ coming next year will be the un-minivan and should sell well.

Maybe.

They came out with the bus concept in……. 2001!!

They should have been selling the bus over two decades ago. And they would have sold well then.

Now they feel super late to the minivan party. Maybe too late to revive it.

And honestly? I don’t think a full electric minivan is the way to go with a vw bus.

Minivans are for families and…… road trips. Would be way better as an ICE 20 years ago, then a hybrid 10 yr ago, and PHeV now.

IMO it is not going to be a good road trip vehicle when the range is so poor. But it should be a great vehicle for the "soccer mom" who is driving kids all over town, and plugging in at night. Time will tell if the soccer moms agree, but since I am not one, and my wife isn't one any more, it won't be us.
