A little off topic, but can we stop naming all EV with -e. Kind of annoying, like when the iPhone came out. Everything was i-this or i-that. For goodness sake, have some originality.
No.

At least not until people know what they are.

If it’s a BEV from a traditionally ICE manufacturer, it needs something in the name so people know what’s under the hood.

A least it’s not lazy naming like a single letter. 😜

Technically, it's 6 letters if you're referring to Tesla's naming scheme.

But I don't think anyone that's about to plop down 50k+ for a car is not going to know if what they're buying is an EV or not.

Sure, when they’re ready to buy they’ll know.

But the name is all about marketing. Gotta know it exists first.

Does the name matter? Absolutely!!

I wouldn’t have bought this car if it was a “Ford Edge-E.”

that's cuz you're not Edge-E enough. :)
Fair. 😝

Example of when naming “normal names” causing confusion and lack of recognition:

Genesis-

Here are their full line of vehicles.
Without a google search, tell me which one (or ones) are full electric-

G70
G80
G90
GV60
GV70
GV80

Model E/Mach-E are still better than Cadillac's -iq suffix imo. "ICK"?

Looks more like a Lincoln. Maybe “MK-E”?
Note carefully, the caption “Artist’s impression”. This means “Fanperson with no direct or indirect knowledge, and modest photoshop skills.” 😀

Looks nothing at all like a Mach-e and has no resemblance to a Mustang. There’s also no real room for a third row of seats in the platform, although that didn’t stop Tesla. If they make the car look anything like that or abandon the Mustang heritage look, I’m on the one and done plan.
Remember, they could keep a Mustang Mach e (and update it) and introduce a new EV as part of an other family (Bronco, explorer, maybe even Fusion!)

I was at the dog park last weekend... none of the dozen or so people there was aware that the Mach E existed or that Ford made an electric truck. Awareness of EVs is not as high as many of us imagine.

And even people who are looking at electrics aren’t aware of all the models out there.

Most of the time around here people are cross shopping the Mach E or Model Y.

When was the last time someone mentioned the GV70 electric?

It’s a perfect competitor for both the Mach E and Y. Yet many don’t even know it exists alongside the gas powered GV70.

483hp, 0-60 in 3.8…… sounds a lot like a Mach E GT. Maybe it needs a better name so people would remember it exists

Names are VERY powerful when it comes to marketing. Not just because one sounds better, but it has to be memorable. There is good reason why almost every restaurant that has soda carries either coke or Pepsi. And it’s not because they’re the best tasting and definitely not the cheapest.

If they hit these specs (3 usable rows), 350 miles of range on a 100 kWh battery (!), and DCFC rates in that range, that will be very impressive. Very impressive.

Big “if” of course.

I don’t see a big 3 row SUV getting 3.5 mi/kWh on an EPA test though. Unless it’s not really a big 3 row and more like the Y.

There were people who bought cars not knowing whether they were front or rear wheel drive.
