As @Mach-Lee said, the main bus bars are too small. The pack’s design goes back to the pre-Mustang design intent of the car. Ford didn’t start with a blank slate but their Marketing people sure played up the “Mustang” and “performance” aspects after they decided to call the car a Mustang instead of a Focus or a Fusion or whatever it was they were going to call it. I almost wish they didn’t have so much overboost and allowed 9 or 10 seconds on less power. ?‍♂?
It can be done….. if Ford chooses.
It’s all software.

Sure, they could remove the limit in software then melt down the power handling hardware in the pack. The bus bars and other components need to be replaced with parts that can handle the power. The Brand T bus bars are over twice the size of ours for a reason. ??

Or what they or I said.

In simple terms, the idea was to reduce max power, but enable it for longer.

It’s an electric and thermal load trade off.

It is, in essence, the same thing that Unbridled Extend is.

In software, they could even do this as a sliding scale.

Top Power, full throttle for 5 seconds
3/4 Power, full throttle for 10 seconds
1/2 Power, full throttle for 15 seconds
etc.

Don't worry 2024 will be a whole new battery redesign with at least an 800-volt system etc. The 5-sec limiter will not be removed on this car due to straight physics.

Wow you really took that serious. Weird
I've seen too many similar posts like yours that were dead serious. Congratulations, you nailed it.

Except in some part of the world and some states you can't even get to the speed limit before the 5 seconds is up.
Fair point...

I get the frustration but this is ford's thermal management system and it's not going anywhere. The next chance we have for that is when ford does a refresh usually at the 5-6 model year mark.

Also I noticed that the Genesis GV60 has a 10 second rule and you need to push and hold a button to keep ful power engaged. I bet the EV6 performance will have the same thing.

The current configuration is staying. Pun intended.
It was designed this way. We were tricked in to buying it and now we’re stuck with it. Short of cancelling my track days though, I’m still enjoying it quite a bit. (Or will be when my HVBJB gets replaced.)
I don’t know about being tricked. I’ve been reading about this 5 second thing for at least a year. I think it was there from the first GT. Just making a guess. I’ve had cars that would go 170. Funny, I never went over 150 and that’s what happens when you drive by tachometer and you lose track of what gear you’re in. The other night I was out and half the drivers thought it was a video game and then an MME GT drove by at 71, stayed in his lane for miles - what a waste of a fast car.

The difference is the transparency from Genesis. They say the car is 429 HP and the boost button provides an additional amount of horsepower for 10 seconds, 482. The car also isn’t limited under normal driving conditions at speed.

I’ll stand by being tricked. Some of us have been here for almost two years now. Some of us decided we wanted it before it was even available. Not only did Ford advertise this car as a track ready car, they also never mentioned that it doesn’t “perform” worth a damn in cold weather.
Also, I don’t believe the first GT was delivered more than a year ago.

My guess is that (as others have said) the MME will not have the limit removed for another 2-3 years. Then they will release an electric coupe GT where they will go all in with performance and rename the MME to just Mach E and drop the Mustang badge. The marker ting people had their fun, but you can see the new Mustang redesign looks ready to be a BEV.

not a chance until they redesign cooling system of motor/inverter/HVBJB/battery tray, AND
you waive battery warranty......

the mach-e is NOT a track car... at any trim level.... sorry to tell you
its a FRIGGING SUV for crissake. If you are expecting anything else, you're going to be disappointed
The Model Y is also an SUV.
The model X is also an SUV. An even bigger one….

You’re aware that there is a Model X PLAID that is also an SUV, I’m sure… that’s not an excuse.

Even the Genesis GV60, which looks pretty much like an SUV like ours, smokes it after 5 seconds.

Also, this car was shown ON THE TRACK, in “unbridled extend”, with people OOHing and AAHing over it…

We were all lied to about the car’s performance. And it’s shameful.

It was the buyers of the first big batch of deliveries that were mislead. Myself included. They called it a Mustang GT and showed it going all out around the track and making passenger sick because it was so fast. zero mention of the 5 second limit....along with deceptive marketing literature.
